Purposely stupid is not something that you are Takuan. You are better then that. Feigned ignorance is even worse. Man up and admit your faults. Admit you lost a war of wits. It really is OK.

Are you two trying to Bush/Cheney me? Takuan asked me a question, I answered, asked her back...and I have gotten nothing. So what is it?

So that is all? lolcat pictures is the best you have? Pathetic. No answer to the melt down YOU proposed, no answer to anything really. Just lolcats. Amazing.

I only want you to answer your own question. That is all.

Answer. That is all, just do that one thing.

Takuan, perhaps we should take this off board. I have a place to go if you are willing. I personally would rather not see BB reduced to well..our level. I assure you that all decorum is expected at where I propose, and in fact any impropriety will have me banned in short order. I would however like to discuss this further.

@72, Oddly enough I am up for it. I wil die for my country -will you?

And still you dodge the question, Republican much?

Oh, and you are still dodging the question - just thought I would point that out.

And again, the insurgents in Iraq are doing badly because...we have big guns?

So Takuan your answer is that when Cheney boils Chicago you will...object. I guess that I reserve the right (and it is a right) to respond violently. You and your ilk can sit and (chant, complain, hold hands, moan, find God, open a vein) fun! pick one! While the rest of us actually DO something.

Takuan's inability to admit she is wrong?

March 30, 2008 7:26pm
That is not an answer. What do you do? I have told you that I will form an armed resistance. I will pull my fellow citizens together and create an armed resistance. You, it seems will do nothing. Yeah, Owning firearms to resist the Federal Gov is bad, you have a much better solution.

It doesn'r elude me at all - answer the question - your own question I might add - what do YOU do?

My only defense against people nerve gassing me is to not vote for them? Wow. I guess I can pray against bullets too.

Except of course, you have not answered your own question. What do YOU do. Chicago just melted, you have no guns, the fascists are in the street - WHAT DO YOU DO? Vote? lol!!

@56 actually if you look at them the .22 has the most punch until you get into ridiculously high calibers (.50, etc.). Want to slice through body armor? You use a .22.
@50 I will take on your experiment. Maybe you haven't been following the news, but ther eis this insurgency in a place called Iraq, you see, they didn't really ave much for explosives, but they are still kicking the best military in the world in the ass. Go google asymmetrical warfare. Oh, and I know you are going to say it, but yeah, the private citizens of the US already have more explosives then the Iraqis did when we walked in the door. And we have a hell of a lot more guns. You will also bring up that they are getting outside help. Do you really think we wouldn't given the same situation? Hell, Putin would ship you an AK-47 and kiss you on the lips. I will pose the logical next scenario. You and your friends have no guns, and Cheney has all of the arsenal of the US, what exactly do you do? Hold up signs? He melts down Chicago (your scenario) and you do what?

I have the honor of calling Steven Brust a friend. Last we were together we were washing dishes. Anywho he once had a book coming out and I told him that I was going to rush out and buy the hardback. No, says he, get the paperback. But Steven this is how you pay the rent I says, I will buy a copy. No, he says, just get the paperback. I couldn't wait, I bought the hardback. And if Will Shetterly reads this - Will I met you for the first time the same day I met Steven. Betsy says hello and would chide you about forgetting me ;) Oh, and Emma might remember me from being the most offensive person ever allowed in the Green Room at the Inn.

@36 except that y r kk. But that is a whimsical poke right? If you allow people to define what offends them that would be horrible right? Unless they are Christians that is, then you get to decide what is offensive. I mean I say rape, you say "forced copulation" right? You are the one making the definition of offensive. You are making your own double standard.
Don't like Christianity, fine, say so. Dont like all of it's trappings? Ok, never use them. But be honest, your problem isn't with xtianity, or even the religious, it is with morons. Stop type casting.

@82 Glad you and Stalin share beliefs. By all means, hang the opposition, I mean after all, they have different beliefs.
And in case you missed the sarcasm, and you will, you are the fodder for Rush L.
How about helping our cause instead of fighting it

@Tom & @Takuan
I think you are both missing the point really. This kind of thing has existed since there was war (read forever). All your righteous indignation aside it will continue as long as there is war (again - forever). I am afraid that you a are spitting into the wind and complaining that there is wind.
And yes, I see the response a mile off - "But if we don't complain it will get worse!" And I agree to a large extent - call attention, shine the light, but don't complain about absolutes lest you want to start the War on Physical Matter.
Healthy 29 year old man dies after police tase him
January 20, 2008 1:03pm
I don't know much about tasering, and I had a brother who was a cop his whole life. There are 7 counties that make up Minneapolis/St Paul and at one point I knew half of the cops in one of those counties. Even they didn't like the State Patrol guys. Not because they weren't good cops, but because they were more like a military unit then even the county SWAT guys were. They honestly saw themselves as a bulwark between the State Patrol and the citizens they protected.
End of the pool hustler
November 24, 2007 9:08pm
My Father was a pool shark when he was younger. Even at his age (mid 70's) he can still run a table like hell. I remember one time when in college, my brother brought a friend home and we went out to eat. As we waited for our food my brother's friend proposed a game of pool (8 ball) to my father. We got to the table and slyly the friend asked about putting a small wager on the table, say $5. My Dad said sure, dug out his wallet, thumbed passed his fives and said "Hmm, I only have a $20, want to make it $20?" Sure the guy responded. Dad then gave him the patter "Well, I might as well give you the money now, I can barely play." So the mark...er...friend says oh, not at all, in fact seeing as you are older you get to break first. Dad set up the cue ball, and ran the entire table on him, it was a wonder to behold. I knew Dad could play damn well, but this was pure magic with a crappy cue, table, and balls in a little bar/restaurant in rural SD. It was great watching the friend's face run from, "oh, lucky" to "wow, impressive" to "I have been had". Ah Dad, you rock to this day.

Photos from film found in thrift store cameras
November 10, 2007 11:18am
I am somewhat amazed that a site that so zealously supports privacy rights has no problems supporting this sort of thing. The lady pictured never wanted herself to be pasted all over the internet. She was in her private home expecting, well, privacy. There are a million reasons that those cameras still had their film in them, none of them gives this person the right to paste the pictures all over the web. Is it interesting? Yeah it is, peeking inside someones curtains usually is interesting. Is it still foul to drag someones private life out into the commons of the internet against their will when they have done nothing wrong? Yes it is. Is it that the fact that this wasn't the government that did this somehow makes it OK? What happens in a person's home should stay there (barring anything overtly illegal of course). Like I said, I am amazed.
