"the last thing a person who wishes to "get something done" should do is run for office. I would argue that lobbying and activism from outside the system will get more done."
what a ridiculous statement. Politicians must just laugh at protests cos ultimately they get to do whatever they want. The parliament is meant to be a representation of the people, but all we as a mass do is elect those horribly squeaky clean know-it-all's from the law faculty and debating club to rule us. Get involved - its not a closed shop.

Why should they get to protect their imaginary property? Whenever technology has made actual real life people obsolete, after a bit of luddite grumbling, everyone got on with progress. Losing their jobs in the process as those peoples voices didnt count.
Now technology has made a highly profitable industry obselete, and just look at them scream. Pulling every trick in the book to have the law changed in their favour.

Yes yes yes, anyone who has worked ina call centre will tell you this.
They stats they get are not an indication of anything that goes on in the real world. You have a team leader, whos only incentive is to moan at you if you log on 3 mins late, or if your on a call TOO long, you know, helping people out and that. The end results is you think, who cares? And dont bother to do your job properly.

The BBC have lost the plot.
When clicking on a link to youtube entitled "delia derbyshire speaks here" i get presented with the message:
"This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by The BBC"
Now, they say they can open the archive because of the rightsholders but wikipedia confirmed what i already knew that she dids in 2001. So who exactly is tying the bbc's hands over the archive and why are they going after clips that in effect by grandparents paid for?
The US might not have a publicly funded TV network, nbut at least what they do build that comes from the taxpayer gets given not just to Americans but the world (Internet, GPS).
Why are paying for through taxes what is now obviously a commercial enterprise? I used to support the bbc to the hilt, but now i couldnt care less.
