TBS runs the world's worst interstitial

June 5, 2008 7:26am

You know, at first I was outraged by this, but it could really be a blessing in disguise. Hopefully, this will make the rest of the world hate The Bill Engvall Show as much as I do and stop TBS from running those never-ending stupid commercials twice in every commercial break. Did they actually think this would increase the number of viewers of that lousy show? Maybe they should do the same thing with "My Boys" and "House of Payne"...

Wow, what a great idea! I want! Bravo!

Tom Cruise's Scientology video -- and Gawker's legal battle to host it

Was it just me or did he say absolutely nothing in that 9 and a half minutes? It was very nonspecific and indistinct. What the hell is he talking about?

Cross in Huckabee's new TV ad?

Please. Every time something purely coincidental like this happens, somebody cries conspiracy.

Remember the old "RATS" scandal in the 2000 presidential election?

Just another "issue" for people to whine about. Get a life.

Facebook will sink under the weight of socially obligated "friendships"

November 27, 2007 7:39am

Cory, thank you for putting my exact thoughts into words. I've done the MySpace thing, I've done the Facebook thing. I joined them to keep in touch with an old friend that I had gone to school with years ago, who was serving in the military. Suddenly, when these stalker services exploded, I was inundated with people I hadn't talked to in years (and really had no desire to ever speak to again) "poking" me, writing on my "wall" and furiously sending me messages asking why I didn't want to be their friend, all while being totally oblivious to my presence if I happened to run into them in the "real world."

I've been MySpace sober for a year now and I've never felt better. It has changed my life. I now realize that the only "social networking" I'll ever need is a little face to face conversation, something that apparently terrifies the majority of the MySpace/Facebook community. Good riddance.

Anti-DRM cards to stick in your Netflix envelopes from Defective By Design

...OH, and despite all the DRM, people are STILL hacking it...

Anti-DRM cards to stick in your Netflix envelopes from Defective By Design

OK, OK, so the system is probably the best available to them right now. And the protest is probably a waste of trees, etc, etc...

The reality remains, however, that the Netflix on demand feature (something that I DO PAY for) is DRM-crippled to the point of being unusable at times. I still can't use it on my Mac (well-said CPT.) and the desire to watch a 20 minute episode of Fawlty Towers results in 30 minutes of muddling through the Microsoft licensing agreement, only to have to "reset" my DRM EVERY TIME.

Granted, this may not be the most effective method of protest, but I'm glad someone is in the same mindset that I am and at least trying to do something about it.
