Curator euthanizes living leather jacket made from human mouse stem-cells

May 8, 2008 11:42am

You know, I think this is quite the turning point. To my knowledge, this is the first time in human history that a work of art has had to be euthanized.

For those worried about playing god: Yeah, we've been doing that for a while now. It's gotten old enough that we don't even bat an eye at how strange it is for someone to say "I’ve always been pro-choice and all of a sudden I’m here not sleeping at night about killing a coat..."

Anti-teen noise-weapon comes to the USA

A thought:

The tone should be pretty pure, methinks. Amplify the tone, pass it through a 180 degree phase shift network, and emit a tone that cancels the offensive tone. It can be surprisingly effective.

@The Specialist :

Just because it doesn't turn you on, doesn't mean that all six billion people on this planet share your view. Human sexuality is more diverse than you can imagine.

Good comments: Adam Rice and Phillip Lamb, on their technical problems

It smells like the error is intended to be in response to a missing CAPTCHA field. I've had it myself, under Firefox.

Didn't Boing Boing post this years ago?

Crazy "agreement" on calorie-counting site

Rotten Tomatoes has a similar agreement at the bottom of every page. I seriously question the enforceability of these things.

Aside from the fact that they are visibly cut nails and far too modern in design :P

Oldest accurate "road map" of Britain

Gord lord, england as a phallus... Of course, beauty tends to be very subjective. I suspect, however, that if you read Boing Boing regularly your taste in art probably leans toward that of the authors.

Helmet for Alzheimers

January 25, 2008 6:38pm

Complete and utter rubbish. Regrowth will not fix alzheimers! Alzheimers is an accumulation of plaques due to misfolded proteins. When folded one way, the protein is water soluble. When folded improperly it is not water soluble. As a result, they accumulate and cause havoc.

Seawater spray reduces cold symptoms in kids

January 25, 2008 12:58am

The thing, that seawater is just dirty saline solution. A quick google search has turned up the study here.

It is very badly designed. The two groups consist of medication, and medication plus the spray. There is no control here for placebo effect. There's really no news here at all.

SimCity adds global warming to the mix

Oddly enough, BP is actually the world's largest manufacturer of solar panels. Shell Oil has been working hard to build up their own solar business, as well. It seems many of these oil companies are seeing the writing on the wall, and developing other lines of business.
