Little monkeys ride tiny motorcycles

April 4, 2008 8:28pm

#51: Yeah, I drive more cautiously when there are kids playing on the street too. That's probably what the leash is for. Those monkeys probably get Walken's Syndrome once in a while and I'm sure the guy doesn't wanna lose his primate or that spiffy motorcycle.

University prof says students can't sell notes from his classes because it violates his copyright

Can he give the notes away? What about professors that upload videos of their lectures on the internet?

#18: They would need a way to secure the hair and move it with precision underneath the beam, like a laser printer. It's probably mechanically easier right now to just fix the hair in position and just move the beam instead.

#49: In a place where it is a common occurrence. A newly installed electronic video billboard causes traffic problems in places where drivers aren't acclimated to them. People get used to it quickly and soon you can tell who the tourists are because of how they're always slowing down to check it out.

I wonder if "human terrain mapping" is used by police locally to chart organized crime activities in the States.

Twenty years from now, people will be laughing in much the same way at "found" vintage YouTube footage of folks on Salvia divinorum.

Ji Lee's parallel universes on ceilings

March 31, 2008 11:58am

While the "creating miniatures" aspect is part of it, the bigger deal here (pun intended) is the concept.

What was that Yoko Ono piece that she did on the ceiling with the magnifying glass? It's like that.

Nihon Uni's Knife-Resistant T-Shirt

March 26, 2008 5:57pm

This design needs a lot of improvement. It seems like if someone would start slashing at you, you would need a lot of protection around the arms (which this shirt has none) since those would be the primary places to get hit. On the other hand, if someone were to try and shank you unawares, you'd probably need a lot of stab-protection around the kidneys, which would probably mean a less flexible material.

Bag with gun shape

March 5, 2008 1:29pm

#55:

Of course it really isn't what a concealed handgun in a bag looks like any more than a transformed Megatron looks like a Walther P38, but the intent behind the design of that bag IS to provoke someone to think, "Whoa, is that a gun in there?"

So, let's take the combined elements of a cop who's first reaction is "Is that a gun in a bag?", a panic situation, poor lighting conditions, and you reaching into the bag, you just might end up getting shot.

All in all a rather hysterical way of committing Suicide By Cop (although going up to the same police officer while holding a toy gun and making threatening gestures might be a couple hundred bucks cheaper).

Psycho inspired bathroom

Totally not wonderful.

The shower curtain and the neon sign are both purchased from a store, and the only handmade "crafty" thing here is the painted blood on the ceiling (implying that someone UPSTAIRS got stabbed).

This is like buying a poster of dogs playing pool, hanging it on the wall and then surrounding it with actual pool cues.
