Japanese creative packaging design solutions to ugly barcodes

April 4, 2008 5:47am

#2

I immediately thought of the MAD magazine thing too. I think they kept it up for a year or so. The only issue I really remember had the bar code over a caption that said something like "Exclusive up close preview of the new Bee Gee's album".

California asks for Real ID extension, but won't promise to comply

March 20, 2008 6:25pm

So they are buying time, waiting for the administration to change. It's the smart move but I wish more states would give DHS the finger and not file.

House of bees

March 14, 2008 3:00pm

"Danger Bees" is my new favorite band name.

Jacko's Neverland Ranch needs some TLC

March 11, 2008 3:37pm

I wish I had the dough to buy it. Just to watch it rot.

Obsolete skills

March 2, 2008 5:21am

Wow, I used Vantive for years. I'm glad to hear it's obsolete.

Videos of TV station signoffs from times gone by

February 20, 2008 5:12pm

[All three boys stare at the telly, just a little white dot on the screen and a low pitched hum.]

RICK: What is that little white dot?

NEIL: It's a little white dot.

RICK: Oh, very clever.

NEIL: It must be a really old telly.

RICK: What, hippie?

NEIL: Look, there's a sign in that little white dot. It means something really heavy. It means, there's no more telly. Time to go to bed. [stands] I'm going upstairs now to finish painting my astrological star chart, all right? [leaves]

RICK: [pause, calls to Neil] Do you really think that anyone has ever been the slightest bit interested in anything you say or do ever, Neil?! [sighs] God, fascist. [stands] Are you going to bed, Vyvyan?

VYVYAN: No. I'm going to watch the dot for a bit longer.

RICK: Wish we had a video. Then I could tape it and watch it in the morning. Oh, well. Nighty night.

Wall lined with 7200 bananas

February 19, 2008 3:40pm

I predict 7200 more comments about hungry people, and what real art is.

Six-word memoirs by writers famous and obscure

Submersible car

February 15, 2008 2:38pm

"Also excellent for tearing apart endangered coral reefs, polluting the water, and randomly killing wildlife for no reason."

Well what the fucking hell is the ocean for?

35 million? Haven't these people ever heard of the flume? Sheesh!

Excellent short film made from public domain footage

December 19, 2007 5:50pm

@ Father Brown

Nice is hardly even a word anymore. It something you say through a forced smile. The law of diminishing returns will wear any word away over time. Look at "awesome", it's in even worse shape than wonderful. Instead of lamenting the diminishment of wonderful, just steal another word from the French to replace it. That's the real power of the English language, its speakers are shameless magpies.

How the UK government deals with a broken light bulb

December 19, 2007 5:39pm

Yes, they are in fact filled with deadly anthrax spores.

Twin Peaks -- 10 DVD set

October 29, 2007 7:27pm

Season two was a classic case of "Be careful what you wish for". But yeah, I'm jazzed to see the pilot again.

Best Buy won't refund "hard drive" that turned out to be a box of bathroom tiles

October 29, 2007 5:02pm

I once bought a defective DVD from them and they refused to even exchange it, and they were so fugging smug about it, it was infuriating. I took the same DVD next door to Target and they exchanged it no questions asked, even though they didn't sell it too me. Let me add my voice to the chorus, Best Buy sucks!

De-evolution imminent, claims scientist

October 27, 2007 3:59pm

Too late. I'm pretty sure it's already happened.
