Chargeback database protects merchants--unless you pay to be removed from it
May 5, 2008 10:13am
So, I'm confused here--they're basically saying that if, for example, someone stole my card and used it to run up charges which I then rightfully complained about/refused to pay, they'd penalize me and refuse to do further business with me, even the real me, not the stolen card me? Or, for that matter, if they charged me in error and refused to resolve the issue on their own?
Do they really get so many people abusing the system that this would be necessary?

Personally, my favorite part of flip phones is slamming them shut to end a call in a huff. I miss that with my new slider. Clicking it firmly shut just...doesn't have the same impact.
(also, so far as thickness is concerned, the new slider is all of .16 of an inch thinner than the flip phone it replaced, so perhaps you're just looking at the wrong flip phones.)
Building block iPod speakers swear they're not Legos
April 28, 2008 12:40pm
I actually bought one for a friend for Xmas simply because it's lego-like, and it was a total success as a gag gift, but it also apparently works fairly well too. Well enough that they actually get used from time to time, which is really all I can ask for.

The Simpsons did something similar in a treehouse episode, I think--one had a watch that could stop time that bart got from an ad in an old comic book. (Speaking of small universes, though, there's also a treehouse bit where lisa created a mini-world while simply trying to conduct a 'dissolve a tooth in soda' experiment.)

My local library displays entries in a similar competition every fall, and also had an Optimus Prime entry.

A nice large framed photo of it prominently displayed would probably do just as well to scare off potential dates, and then you'd only have to decide between the last two options. (for added scaribility, I suggest making the frame out of legos )

That's why there's a sporting group and a non-sporting group in the AKC. If they're just going to cheat anyway, what's the point in you playing fair?
