Pig bladder powder regrows human finger
March 24, 2008 2:21pm
an xacto knife can cut the tip of a finger off. I lost the tip of my thumb while cutting mat-board with an xacto, half way through the nail. That whole thing grew back with out any pig bladder. I've just got a scar at the tip slightly larger than a pin head.

Amazing swimming pools
February 26, 2008 11:16am
The link doesn't say so I feel i should mention the photo on the left is a sculpture at The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa Japan. You enter the pool from a very low door at one end and above the glass ceiling sits less than an inch of water giving the illusion of being stuck at the bottom of a pool. The artist, who's name I can't seem to locate is said to have been inspired by a near drowning incident from his childhood.

I agree with NOEN,people who dissagree with me are unintelligent trolls. Since they are so obviously wrong about one issue they couldn't possibly ever have valid things to say about future issues. I'm going to plug my ears with greasemonkey and hum loudly to myself.

Drawing, not being confined to the left to right progression of english writing is no more likely to smudge your hand than that of a right handed person.
also, everyone should draw with ballpoint. Your hand skills will never progress faster than when working with indelible materials.

Harmonix Confirms Rock Band Hardware Issues
November 29, 2007 7:57am
We have rock band in the office break room, so it gets a lot of play from a lot of different people. We've had it since launch and so far the strum bar on our guitar has gone bad and the pedal on the drum kit has snapped in half. Both ended up being fairly simple repairs though our pedal is now laminated with an extra layer of plywood.

It would be nice to lighten it up with a smaller battery. You could have a larger battery in the holster that keeps it charged and drawing the gun could automatically turn on the device.
Police testing gun camera

I think this is a great idea but that does seem like it might interfere with the quick drawing of the weapon. If its light and the holster is properly designed it should work well.
I wonder how you effectively field test something like this when those using it in the field may well be quite hostile to its adoption.

MIT student arrested for entering Boston airport with "fake bomb"
September 21, 2007 11:16am
I have no problem with security putting extra scrutiny to someone with an unknown device. This could have come in the form of, "excuse me miss, what have you got there." what I don't get at all is why wouldn't they just let her go moments after they got the device in their hands and could obviously tell it was innocuous.
As for the oh no, machine guns issue; Its called single shot mode. The longer barrel and two handed grip provides much greater accuracy than a pistol. And a silencer is good to use when firing in any enclosed space. Consider it hearing protection for everyone around.

zikzak you fail to understand something quite central to scientific understanding. That being that nothing is true in a real sense. There are only theories and models, some of which or demonstrably more predictive than others. If a better, read more predictive, model comes along the old less useful model is abandoned with out sentiment.
So, there is no identity based on clinging to the notion that the supernatural is untrue. There is simply the knowledge that no concept of the super natural has ever been shown to adequately predict real world phenomenon. While those who claim to wield supernatural powers have repeatedly been shown to be frauds.
It is the skeptic, devoid of baseless explanations for the world, who can truly sit in awe of the great immensity of the unknown. While the believer denies the unknown, clouding much of it with assertions.
