Re-creation of "Who's On First routine"

April 23, 2008 4:44pm

That was sad. I want my money back.

Fixing the "Text entered was wrong" bug

April 18, 2008 1:30pm

I, too, thought it was a mechanical opinion on my comments, which weren't that bad. Really.

Clothing designed to fight back against intentionally uncomfortable furniture

April 17, 2008 6:36pm

I fell asleep under a tree in the park while reading, so a man had to wake me and ask me if I was all right. Clearly, being tired and falling asleep over a book is strictly a private activity.

Children's book about plastic surgery

April 17, 2008 9:17am

You can love mommy only if she's beautiful and rich. Now go feel sorry for all those poor kids with mothers who are neither beautiful nor rich.

Vintage sexist coffee TV commercial

April 15, 2008 5:06pm

"Aside from the gender thing (love the adultery subtext), it's interesting because it's trying to convince people to use a more processed product that in reality tastes markedly inferior - instant v. freshly brewed."

Technology was all the rage. This kind of thing was pretty common.

The man is a jerk, but since his wife's self-esteem depends on him not whining about a commodity, she's no great shakes, either.

Time-lapse video of man trapped in an elevator for 41 hours

April 15, 2008 3:14pm

Why didn't security see him on the camera and let him out? In most office buildings, there's security after hours and on weekends monitoring the elevator cameras.

McCain and conspiracy theorists agree that Washington is Satanic

April 9, 2008 1:34pm

I'm not sure I'm picturing an upside-down star here.

Little monkeys ride tiny motorcycles

April 3, 2008 2:15pm

Seems cruel.

Woman told to remove nipple rings for Texas flight

March 28, 2008 9:29am

I'm not keen on body piercings, either, but for this to make sense it would have to apply to everyone with any piercings -- from the basic ear job (like I have) to, yes, clits.

These TSA stories do sound like an agency of people in power out of control.

Anti-emo pogroms rage throughout Mexico

March 27, 2008 9:52am

The interesting thing is that the Chinese are having a similar reaction to Tibetans -- the "Why aren't you satisfied to be like us?" syndrome. The expectation of conformity as not just the norm, but the required norm, has always disturbed me.

Fun straws are phallic?

March 18, 2008 1:43pm

I predict the child is scarred for life, and it's not by drinking straws and the shape thereof.

Engagement ring floats away

March 18, 2008 12:04pm

Something tells me that Pukebazooka is probably right on.

Evolution of Yeti imagery

White in snow is camouflage.

Sometimes ya just dig too deep.

TED 2008: Crow vending machine maker Joshua Klein

February 29, 2008 2:42pm

I don't think these activities are beneficial for the crows. Perhaps they'll be too smart to fall for it.

Real estate agents sue Google for links to stories about them

February 8, 2008 5:10pm

Since BoingBoing posted the same thing, and there are articles appearing about the articles, maybe they should sue BoingBoing and the whole dang Internet!

February 1, 2008 10:30am

what is telling is that it is yet another example of incurious george.

So true -- that was the point of the exercise. When you don't know, make it up and then back it up as the truth. That's why it's a determined horseman. Because that's what he says it is. Just like "Mission Accomplished."

And to the one poster's point, it's a pretty pedestrian Western painting.

I pick, "I'm desperate to make money off a lawsuit."

Is this the end of cheap food?

January 21, 2008 2:58pm

Food has been artificially cheap for a long time. I suspect reality is slowly creeping up.

How Circuit City Committed Suicide

January 7, 2008 3:05pm

[quote}I have yet to enter a Circuit City or Best Buy and encounter this mythical "knowledgeable salesperson." I assume such sightings are to be classified in the same category as sightings of Bigfoot.[/quote]

A Best Buy person tried to tell me all about routers until she figured out I knew more about them.

Our universe as virtual reality

January 7, 2008 2:52pm

All I know is that I want the head of the programmer who messed up my life. Get it right, will you!

Spoiled teenage pageant princess

January 6, 2008 10:38am

I'm quite sure this is an intentional spoof. Quite. I hope.

How Circuit City Committed Suicide

December 30, 2007 7:55am

"The good news is that this will now kill the company, preventing it from happening again"

I'm afraid this isn't true. It happens somewhere, in some variation, all the time. The cost of inexperience/the value of experience are too hidden compared to $X/hr. vs. $XX/hr. for most executives to get it. And what is an executive, anyway?

Hello Kitty for men

December 29, 2007 5:12am

Timing—I saw a 20ish man on the bus pull out a Hello Kitty wallet to pay his fare. And this is in Chicago.
