@30: I totally agree about how misinformed many people are about what's required to get a gun.
Another false belief that seems pretty common (and propagated by many action movies) is that things like a standard 2x4 and gyp board wall will stop a bullet. It takes quite a bit of solid wood to stop a bullet of any kind, a layer of plaster or exterior siding probably wouldn't do much of anything, and even a hollow concrete block wall isn't totally effective (if it is filled with reinforcing and concrete, that works). Water, sand or other more fluid substances stop projectiles very well. Anyway, this is just so sad to me, because any gun really should know these things.
Perhaps testing and licensing should be required, but I can only imagine the vitriolic response that would get from a lot of the gun community.

Why thank you, yes, my weekend was lovely. Got the new Smash Bros, and didn't get enough sleep. Am a little bummed: I've had no luck attempting to play with random people on the inter-wii-nets. But it is indeed Super.

LaserXcaliber. Because really, what could be cooler than an undefeatable mideival sword + the infinite power of lasers?
Perhaps that led to my current one.
Moment of TSA surrealist zen @ LAX: Xeni

This happened to me in may of this year in Atlanta as I was returning to LA. Several yells of "NOBODY MOVE!!" But it only lasted about 3-4 minutes, not long, just long enough for everybody to get over being scared and see that it was just the same overweight TSA screeners trying to do their job (read: piss everyone off). About half of them looked nervous, the other half looked smug at having kept the old ladies in wheelchairs from putting their shoes back on with some semblance of dignity.

I like almost everything: the new logo is great, the site is much cleaner, and I'm very excited about the gadgets page. Don't like the font for some reason, it's hard for me to read. w00t 4 comments!

I also can write on my fridge, but that's because I painted it with chalkboard paint. I've never liked the dry erase markers (isn't it ironic that the one you first pick up is almost always dried out? shouldn't that make it work better?!), but the coolest part is that it more accurately reflects the color of my soul - in dusty pastels!
