Land grab case in Boulder incites anger and protests

If you live in New York City you should be worried. According to the city housing court clerk's office, any person who sleeps on your couch for 30 days or more has a right to shelter in your apartment.

Regardless of rent, etc.

If you try to kick them out or even lock them out of the bathroom, your guest has the right to have the city break your door down and re-install them in your home. You have to get a judge to issue an eviction notice, which could take months.

All of this is true for roommates who fail to pay rent or utilities, even if their names are not on the lease.

There was a great book written by Jessica Mitford about this only 44 years ago!

Twin Peaks -- 10 DVD set

Thois looks fanytastic, content-wise, but the gold box is early 90's foil-stamped-x-men-cover ugly. The original Twin Pwaks season 1 dvd was much truer to the spirt and aesthetic of the series.

Bill Watterson reviews the new Charles Schulz bio

The Clowes paraphrase was from his first long Comics Journal interview ca. the early 90's when Calvin and Hobbes was hot. He may have said "jock" rather than "jockstrap", but the quote is essentially correct.

I think he was reacting to the hype surrounding Watterson and the fact that Peanuts was basically non-existent for younger people at the time due to the lack of reprints in the bookstores.

I grew up on the cheap paperback reprints of late 50's-early-70's Peanuts and noticed the lack of respect for Schulz among my younger friends who only knew Snoopy as a Met life pitchman.

I doubt Clowes would say quite the same thing today, and I'm sure that Schulz himself had a high opinion of Watterson's work.

Dan Clowes has it right when he said (I paraphrase) that Bill Watterson wasn't fit to carry Charles Schulz's jockstrap.
