Hmmm, that's 270 000 pixels (VGA), not 2.7 megapixels. And, forgive me, if you don't post at least a link to a sample video made with this thing, you're just giving away free advertising space, no?
Steampunk inspired art prints to benefit EFF

I really liked this piece...it definitely has something special something special. Thanks for posting this. (And hey, most of you, don't you think you're somewhat impolite? Doesn't such an artist deserve better than serving as a pretext for your ego-inspired blah-blah's?)

This message is indeed triggered by the CAPTCHA function. So problably, when a session expires, and the user has a "remain logged in option" set, the script will attempt to re-login the user in SILENT mode, but DOESN'T skip the CAPTCHA procedure (it should!!), which leads to the output of this error message.
So you have to figure that one out now!

Why not do a search for that string in your language file, and work back to the function that triggers that output? (On your server, in the movable type directory, somewhere in a php file). Would be more efficient than just chatting about this glitch in public.
BTW, I juts got the same error too, I think the session expired server-side but the client cookie wasn't cleared or something similar (I'm not familiar with Movable Type, sorry). I seemed to be logged in, submitted my comment, got the error message and was logged out. Logged in again, and it worked. Definitely, a "Sorry, a, error occured, please log in again to post" message would be more appropriate, and I doubt the good people at Six Apart (MT's publishers) would have left such a message on purpose. So: either a MT bug, or a BB misconfig. (search the string first, than look at session related stuff, including timezone settings).

Hi, I didn't read all comments, but I'm must say I'm puzzled by what I read until now: are you all so obsessed with "see-through-swimming-suits" issues that you don't see that there's much more to it, especially security issues? I mean, here you have a 500$ IR camera with a 300mm lens and superior optics looking like an ordinary SLR! A burglars dream!!!
Microsoft Drops White Spaces Device Ball Again

What the heck Microsoft is doing in there? Why don't they leave this stuff to companies that have the expertise? Like Shure, Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, whoever? Please focus on getting your software to work correctly. Thanks!!
Vintage Microphone Gallery
March 29, 2008 12:32am
Very nice, of course, but both the BB comment (core77 has a great collection of vintage microphones.....) and core77's own comment (but it's also a sad reminder that a once-beautiful object, a device that truly signified "industrial design," is gone forever...) are a bit misleading: 1: core77 posts a gallery of pictures (and says so), it's not his/their collection 2: there are quite a few brandnew off-the-shelf mics of great design posted there (like the Blue mics). "Gone forever", hmm, a bit exagerated! A bit pricey, certainly.

What happened? I check BB twice, if not more per day ...what did I miss? In other words, was this post neccessary, I mean, couldn't you just post a link to a eula or something? Sounds so unfriendly.... There's nothing wrong with how you want to manage your site, that's OK with me, but did we deserve a reminder of this kind on the frontpage? Are you being sued and you don't want to talk about it or what?

Quote from original article:
'If we have a primary means of identifying people before they offend, then in the long-term the benefits of targeting younger people are extremely large,' said Pugh. 'You could argue the younger the better. Criminologists say some people will grow out of crime; others won't. We have to find who are possibly going to be the biggest threat to society.'
Dear Mr Pugh, no need to search any further. We just found the biggest threat to society: You.

Virgin will use biodiesel in test flight

What we definitely should do first, is trying to reduce significantly our need for transportation, as well as starting to produce repairable goods, and stop our trow-away culture.

@#6: No, my reaction assumes that whenever you succesfully create a market for such agrofuels, all the byproducts of the whole world wouldn't be enough to fulfill the demand, and rainforests will be chopped down for production of this new "agro-gold".
Amongst others.
And we will start struggling for centuries to try to get those countries to sing treaties in order to have them give up what's making them rich. Because once more, we would have acted first, ans started thinking afterwards.

It must be emphasised that "biofuel" (I'd prefer "agrofuel") is potentially the biggest catastrophy you can imagine. Definitely the worst good idea of all times. IMHO.
Kevin Kelly: Better Than Free

Interesting, of course but I'd like to draw your attention to the fact that this is not a US-specific subject:
The instant reduplication of data, ideas, and media underpins all the major economic sectors in our economy, particularly those involved with exports -- that is, those industries where the US has a competitive advantage.
We're living in a global world now, and US is not universal..... this theory could apply to any economy on earth.
Can Ethernet Cabling Become Art?
January 25, 2008 11:55pm
@kiki971: sorry, but your's is a misconception. A realisation takes more than craftmanship and good design to be called "art". This misconception is general these days. Comment#14 by the specialist is more correct. Quote from wikipedia: "Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas. Beyond this description, there is no general agreed-upon definition of art, since defining the boundaries of "art" is subjective." Basically, since Marcel Duchamp, if the creator says his work is art then it is, because it was produced with the intent to be so. Just being "beautiful and well made" doesn't make an object "art", it remains what it is even if it's pleasant to look at. (which btw is not mandatory for "art")

Was busy typing when I saw comment #6: that's what I wanted to say too. It's misleading, and they should stop calling this an "awareness" campaign, because it's plain wrong. The soundlevel at "your" location on the square can be anything from rougly 20db down or up (more likely up: I guess the mesuring mic is in/on/near the billboard). You might even be in a 100dB "soundcloud" from a motorcycle just passing near you if you're on the other end of the street and the thing might just not indicating a change.
Being "aware" of something is UNDERSTANDING something.
