@Strabo I was more referring to the amount of popups and flashing SWF ads which you inferred existed on the site - if the vid's somewhere else I say go for it.

@Strabo soooo there's pretty much no reason to view that other video on Entensity whatsoever?

ZOMG I snorted milk out of my nose just now.
Yes, I have milk with lunch.

Who needs to "do unto others..." when you're a pop culture historian! (@humanpower my sentiments exactly - that's like saying lastnightsparty is maintained by a photojournalist.
NYPD cop: videoing me breaking the law is a terrorist act
April 23, 2008 8:34am
LogrusZed: I wasn't raised to swear back at someone. It never solves anything, and usually only serves to escalate the situation. Swearing back is something petty people do.

@JackCastile I'm in -partial- agreement with you. I don't know the law when it comes to traffic and parking regulations involving the PD, but clearly this lady WASN'T sitting in that diner in the Line of Duty or something. Parking next to a fire hydrant because you just saw someone rob a bank and you jumped out of your vehicle to pursue them is one thing. Parking next to a fire hydrant because you needed a little snack is quite another.

There are lots of things wrong with what happened in this video, on the part of the NYPD -and- on the part of the videographer. He had a pretty good point, right up until the moment he started cursing out a woman who was 1. retired, and therefore 2. older than he was and 3. a former cop. I'm very much pro-civil liberties, and that woman was completely wrong when she was stating that people 'weren't supposed to film cops because of the terrorism.' However! It's really not helping your case much to use such strong language.
The cop, retired cop and videographer should all grow up.

Good comments: Adam Rice and Phillip Lamb, on their technical problems
April 11, 2008 5:54pm
Hey cool, my commentary was put to use! Perhaps now if I write my President and give him a few reasons to fix the economy and get out of Iraq, he'll listen too!
Anyway, Stu Mark, the only way there could be a Polish Sausage-related conspiracy at BB is if Ditka himself were secretly controlling the webbertubes...
And: Shutz, ya, I'm a web developer for (I'm probably about to violate the comments policy now) EchoDitto. I will pass your thoughtful comments on to my supervisor, who will surely give me a huge bonus.
And, Teresa, THANKS! Glad to see this has sparked some useful dialogue.

I really, really, really, really, really, really want a set of these to use as wedding bands for my fiancée and I. Anybody know where to get a set?

Looks like the secretive Cat Command has finally perfected the Doggy Defense Shield - deactivates for humans, because they bring food.
Racist signs in Thailand
April 8, 2008 12:42pm
The first one is actually a PSA - you see, in Thailand, "Out Side People" is the slang term Thai people use to describe Daleks. And as we all know, Out Side People (read: Daleks) CAN NOT GO UPSTAIRS.
Betcha the Doctor has one of these posted in the Tardis.
Bush administration: Fourth Amendment doesn't apply to domestic military operations
April 2, 2008 11:23am
I'm not advocating anything here, but whatever happened to the bit about defending the United States from all threats, foreign AND DOMESTIC? If you ask me, this sorta thing SURE sounds like a domestic threat to my country. Then again, I'm old-fashioned, and believe that one of the best things about our Constitution is (was?) the Bill of Rights.
At least I've got a backup plan if things head south quickly around here - my fiancée is French. Dual citizenship FTW.
To steal a line from Randy Newman's great song, "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country:"
"A President once said,
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"
Now it seems like we’re supposed to be afraid
It’s patriotic in fact and color coded
And what are we supposed to be afraid of?
Why, of being afraid
That’s what terror means, doesn’t it?
That’s what it used to mean"
Super-premium theater chain in the US to sell $35 movie tickets
March 28, 2008 6:44am
#7 & #8, thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to be in Boston soon and have always wanted to go to Vancouver, these sound like a lot of fun! I'm not sure that I'd pay $35, especially here in Manhattan where the prices are already close to that anyway. Maybe if they played more independent stuff and could ENSURE me that annoying children and people who talk through the movie wouldn't be there.

Can we PLEASE file some sort of class-action lawsuit on behalf of anyone ever humiliated by the TSA? Or is there some weird thinger that shields government agencies against class action?

This is absolutely fantastic - the sort of thing I always wanted to do when I was a kid, but because camcorders were expensive, could not.
Photos from rotting Chinese theme-park in Orlando
March 26, 2008 7:36am
Holy cow, I went to this park on a grade-school field trip! I remember that it was eerily quiet, but I didn't see any protesters. Not that I, at that age, would have understood what they were protesting.
When we stopped mid-tour for lunch, the only food the offered was, of course, Chinese, and pretty much what you'd expect, quality-wise.
