Drug war horror stories to boil your blood
May 13, 2008 5:49am
I'm as opposed to the war on some drugs as anybody (I think even heroin and cocaine should be legal), but here's the thing about the liver transplant case: there's a shortage of transplantable organs, and the fact that this guy didn't get a liver means that somebody else did.
If there's anything about this case to get angry about, it's the fact that we don't allow live organ donors to be financially compensated, which would help alleviate the shortage of transplantable organs.

November 8, 2007 8:33am

Does this mean that the "overweight" are less likely to have Alzheimer's, or does it mean that Alzheimer's just takes longer to kill them?
Because as bad as Alzheimer's is, living longer with it does not seem like an unambiguous good.
"Fetch" Insulated Pizza Delivery Bags
October 8, 2007 10:44am
Back when I delivered pizzas for Pizza Hut, I had a customer try to buy a bag from me. He said his brother was opening a pizza delivery business in Mexico, and needed the bag to duplicate.
I doubt it was true. But I did sell him the bag. I don't recall how much he paid me.

This is basically the philosophy of Spinoza, repackaged.
Except Spinoza would not have agreed that the unfolding of the universe/substance/God was "partially beyond natural law".
