Agree with Pipenta (31). I don't think this was created to mock Japanese culture in any way; it's just a silly bit of video mash-up. I've seen plenty of things like this involving American culture that are way more stupifying.

I think maybe I'm missing something here. I know that hiding the note was supposed to keep it from a third party, but suppose the family had never found the secret room? Wouldn't it have been a lot safer to wait until the family moved in, knock on their door, and actually TELL them that the house is infested with mold?

I'm going to have to agree with Father Brown here. "Who would've thought there were so many obsessed and misguided gun freaks visiting BoingBoing!" Indeed, this discussion page looks like an NRA convention.
