That's a great example of color theory. Joseph Albers taught many of his students these techniques, from a magic rather than a science perspective.

You can reproduce this effect with three colors if your willing to forgo the 3d / photo-realistic fun.

This is about risk versus safety.

Unfortunately, our ability to evaluate these trade-offs in a balanced way has been completely lost since 9/11.
