Steve Jobs on the Segway: "It sucks! Sucks! It just does!"

Kanye West rant was hammered out on a MacBook Air
June 25, 2008 11:38pm
While he has legitimate reasons for the rant, Kanye really needs to show the patience and restraints that comes with being in the public eye. This is the guy who bitched about not winning a grammy. I mean, how arrogant can you be?
Purported Bill Gates rant from 2003 slams Windows' flaws: "But that is just the start of the crap."

Grand Theft Auto IV thoughts
May 30, 2008 1:04pm
LOSTINTX, I've played both, and while MP2 does have the same "gritty" environs, they only serve as the back drop of a "noir" story. GTA4, on the other hand, immerses you into the city. I've found myself running into alleys to get away from cops, only to realize how authentic the alleys feel and then I actually stop to notice the little details, like the trash that spills out when you accidentally knock over a trash can. At times I feel like I'm in another life, but a very free one where I can stab whoever I want, like that annoying ranting preacher and crazy man outside of the apartment in Bohan... I mean, it's a game, I'm actually getting annoyed by random characters in a game, just like real life!
Paper towel dispenser design

the enMotion one (on far left) is installed in many government buildings, at least here in D.C and Maryland. NIH uses them almost exclusively. While the design is nice, it does little to spruce up the ho-hum gov't bathrooms. However, it's nice not to worry about the germs you could gather with those hand cranks on old fashioned dispensers.
Star Trek cake

#2: They do deliver outside of Baltimore, if you watch the Charm City Cakes show on Food Network you can see them delivering (for the right price of course) as far as Chicago and New York! I'm in Gaithersburg, MD so I'm definitely getting them to make me a cake when I get married!
AT&T wants $100 more for pre-paid extra handset if you're already a customer
May 12, 2008 8:38am
On the other end of the customer service spectrum: My entire family has Verizon, and my mom's phone is ancient but I kept forgetting to upgrade it for her. So the other day I go into a local corporate store to see what options I have. My mom's phone is not the main line (mine is), so it doesn't get their $100 2-year contract credit for a new phone, and it's way past warranty to get it replaced. I had to wait more than an hour, but this was just because of retarded ludites who ask the sale people hundreds of questions before they sign anything. When it was my turn, I came up and they told me all the problems I have with replacing the phone that I just mentioned, and that I'd just have to buy a new one for my mom. But when they found out I have a Verizon My Account... account (yeah dumb name I know), they said I could just go on the website and get a bunch of new phones for free through online deals, and then he apologized for my wait.
They might be pricey and their plans have less minutes, but I don't need all those minutes, and I'd gladly pay a little more for excellent service and customer privacy.
Batman in Vietnamese
May 11, 2008 3:32pm
So I guess I have to comment on this since I'm the only one I've seen on BoingBoing with an obvious Vietnamese handle.
Falcon Seven, kudos for figuring out "Holy Cow Batman!" in Vietnamese, I was actually trying to think of it the other day.
And before anyone mistaken Jake0748's comment for you know.. fact, in that panel Robin says "The pirates are almost here Batman!" Yes, there are pirates!
I haven't completely translated all of this, but just FYI, there's also Bat girl, who does NOTHING. And Robin is called "Binh" in Vietnamese, which doesn't really correlate to Robin except for maybe the pronunciation of the second syllable.

If I had any time and skill I would turn that into an awesome Counter Strike map. And of course it would have to be bombing missions.

The arms race escalates between spammers and CAPTCHA
April 15, 2008 1:11pm
How about you watch a brief video and describe the general tone of the video (sad, happy, scary, etc...) and you're allowed a variety of answers for each mood. Admittedly this can still be hacked by a bot entering random mood words, but it could slow them down..

Feds hand eight-count obscenity charge to porn producer
April 11, 2008 12:30am
Not to side track, but you know, I really should know better than to click on a Wikipedia link at 2 am. I saw the link for Belladonna, and thought "huh, didn't think she was big enough to be on Wikipedia (not like Jenna Jameson or Tera Patrick)". So I click. Then at the bottom is a link to a list of female porn stars. Needless to say it's now 3:30 am, and I've learned several interesting things, the most amusing one is how serious Wikipedians are about their porn stars (go read the discussion on Jenna Haze). And I haven't seen one nude pic of any of them...
Anyways, I really just want to agree with what PJCamp said, about how they always drag out moral issues when election time is near.. like the whole homosexuality is destroying America stuff in 2004.

I've watched both and I dunno.. Mythbusters seems on par with Top Gear for the excitement, I mean you usually can get the sense of need for explosions from either of the two main hosts.

You know what, car designs suck too! Why do they have to have four wheels and doors on each side?? Who cares about aerodynamics and wind resistance?? Even the current white ones suck! They just do!
