Woman who couldn't stop itching

This would justify the implantation of a metal skull pate. As a bonus she could dress as Terminator in halloween.

Fred Dibnah: master chimney demolisher and coal-mine enthusiast

June 23, 2008 12:35pm

On the topic of falling chimneys, there's an interesting physics explanation of why large chimneys break in two when falling.

There are at least two mechanisms. Some researchers have built lego brick chimneys to use as a model.

Here's a link with all the equations and explanations http://myweb.lmu.edu/gvarieschi/chimney/chimney.html

HOWTO anonymize your digital photos

May 1, 2008 11:00am

This is an interesting field. For example someone could substract the noise signature of their own camera, and add the noise signature of another camera, which they can obtain for example from a sample of photos from flickr.

Manipulations at the pixel level are not that esoteric, they can be done in Visual basic for example.

April 14, 2008 12:11pm

"The marathon is easy. There are no lions"

A very memorable sentence. I wonder if it will stick into pop culture to the extent of inspiring a t-shirt, sticker, song, or meme.

Obsolete skills

March 2, 2008 6:47pm

Another rant for non-obsoleteness. Fortran is not obsolete, it's used in science and engineering, and in supercomputers. Some companies hire fortran programmers For example the ones that produce chemical process simulators.

To do in LA this weekend: Speed Cabling, Knight Death Animations

February 7, 2008 11:45am

I'm delighted. For me this is a moment when "reality surpasses fiction". (I wrote a short story in spanish about a genius "cabler" in 1995). Never thought somebody would do it for real.
