Web Zen: leftover bacon zen

This doesn't work for me. I already think that bacon looks like pieces of burnt flesh - attaching it to someone only furthers that impression...
Numbered drawers

This reminds me too much of when I sorted mail at my dorm in college.

I should take my briefcase labeled "one million dollars" and buy a nice house and a car.

Guns don't kill people, installing satellite TV kills people.
TSA at LAX still requiring air travelers to remove all electronics?
February 13, 2008 10:32pm
This has happened to me at O'Hare in the past few months, and at Miami International just last week. Of course, the request was verbal - there were no posted signs about mp3 players, cameras, or other small electronics needing to be screened separately. If anything, that just heightens the fear - I'd feel safer knowing my electronics were safely in my bag, rather than out in a tray, ready to be stolen by someone who got through security first.
Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Thanks for the tip! I've been intending to review these documents again. Now I can just put them on my mp3 player and have at it.

I think I'm going to use 9/11 as my excuse for anything from now on, no matter how ridiculous. "Well, ever since 9/11..." People will hear that and just *know*.

#25, that was awesome. I like how you didn't explain it, either - I earned my treat...
Taxonomy of regional pizza styles
January 26, 2008 9:40am
#51 - That was my initial reaction, too. But the site talks about "Chicago thin crust," and that's what that line was referring to.
As someone from the Chicago area, I'd argue that there's no such thing as "Chicago thin crust." It's just thin crust, with nothing to distinguish it from most thin crust pizza I've had anywhere else. "Chicago-style" always refers to deep dish, with crust, followed by cheese, followed by toppings and tomatoes. Lou Malnati's is my favorite, followed by Giordano's.
Fox helps itself to photo of blogger's dog

My problem is what sort of precedent this might set. I have some not-so-great photos of myself on my Flickr site that I don't really care about because no one really looks at my photos. However, I would hate for any of them to be included in any sort of TV broadcast without my permission, or for anyone to make money off of photos I've taken. I'd rather just keep them to myself than publish them for all to see and risk having them be stolen.

Daily Show writer explains writers' strike -- if digital content isn't worth anything, how come Viacom is suing YouTube for $1 billion?
November 15, 2007 5:11pm
The idea is to get viewers to watch the programing when it runs on TV.
The funny thing in all of this is that ultimately, it makes no difference to the networks if I watch any TV at all. I have no Nielsen input whatsoever. Ironically, watching video online is a truer measure of viewership than the outdated Nielsen system.
The Week on the fall of the music industry
November 6, 2007 1:08pm
What makes me irritated is the assumption that a download equals a lost sale in each and every case. Many people who download tracks without paying wouldn't have otherwise bought them. It's not like, if you remove the free downloading option, they will buy music at the same rate. Never underestimate the allure of getting something for nothing. I don't doubt there is some effect, but it's not as large as the record companies whine about.
