Amazon MP3 ID3 tag mystery solved -- bad file permissions and misinformed rep, not proprietary tags

January 24, 2008 8:13am

teresa,
a few points and then i'll leave it alone
1. i am one person (as far as I know). i hope you're just being snarky and aren't so paranoid as to believe i would make up aliases for something like this. you could always check ip addresses for entries if you really thought someone was creating a lot of aliases.
2. as i said before, you very well may have explained the disemvoweling in past posts but i honestly didn't return to the posts and see those explanations. if i had, why would i save my indignation until now? i'm not the type to obfuscate my posts. i'll just say what i think without trying to cleverly hide contempt. but, all the same, thank you for calling me a liar. you stay classy.
3. i think #36 touches on the censorship in the right ways. you may not view disemvoweling as censorship but I can't think of anyone that would take the time to decipher posts on a message board/comment thread. they'd see it and move on. at least, I would, which is why I never understood the disemvoweling until this thread.
4. i never claimed freedom of speech. i just thought it odd that a group of people so adamant in their beliefs wouldn't do such things.

I'm sorry if I ruffled your feathers. My indignation was truly out of surprise, nothing disingenuous about it. As I said, I've been a visitor to the site for several years and didn't expect such a thing. Call me naive but don't call me a liar.

Teresa #24,
I actually never saw an explanation for it which is no doubt why I kept harping on it. I honestly thought people were trying to save 5 seconds of their life by disemvoweling their posts. Call me naive I guess. I just thought Boing Boing was above censorship. As for repeatedly commenting on it making me a hypocrite, I think you need to visit www.m-w.com.
I've been visiting the site for close to 3 years now. I guess that's all over. Way to stomp on your supporters.
This post will be disemvowelled in 3... 2... 1...

Oakley Medusa Head Thinger

January 23, 2008 8:34am

#19 the lens in Oakley glasses are some of the best out there. The lens in your $5 glasses are made from melted down poker chips. They're horrible for your eyes.
Aside from that, Oakley has a lifetime warranty on their glasses. I've returned pairs several time and Oakley always gets a new pair sent out right away.
I agree with you about the stylings of oakley and I totally agree with the douche factor. You can buy Oliver People's eyewear instead. They're owned by Oakley and have the same quality and warranty.
I don't work for a sunglass company even though it may sound that way. LOL

Thuggy Stardust and the Hustlers from Mars: Bowie/gangsta rap mashup

January 7, 2008 8:04am

#4 welcome home. what took you so long? real, credible music has missed you so.

mashups are ruining clubland. why people want to go to a club and hear the same songs that they can hear on the radio day in and day out is beyond me. and just b/c it's generic song a played on top of generic song b doesn't mean its fresh (or anything near creative).
I miss the days when people sought out music that was new and interesting.

Bonus: No need to pay alimony when they're squared away safely at Gitmo.

Netherlands bans magic mushrooms

October 13, 2007 5:57pm

Crash, from my readingson the history of Marijuana and i've heard that the tobacco industry pushed for it's criminalization. This combined with a backlash against Mexican migrant workers during the depression lead to our current status.
Tobacco and Alcohol corporations are just as powerful as big pharm and big pharm is plenty happy ripping off the elderly. They don't need to push for decriminalization b/c they know the govt will play their game and allow them so much leeway with their regular "product" that they don't need to make a stink about decriminalization.

Just my paranoid opinions. ;)

Stupid people are going to do stupid things. You can't blame stupid actions on drugs, but you can blame stupid actions on stupid people.
There are millions who have and continue to "experiment" with drugs and continue living perfectly respectable and "sane" lives.
Call my opinion crass if you wish. It is sad that people die, but it's also inevitable.
I honestly feel this is an issue of civil liberties that the government picks and chooses what they want to enforce due to pressure (read: dollars) placed on it by corporations.
