"A number of signs are required to be posted at your business, based on the type of license you hold. These are the signs that Liquor Control Agents and local law enforcement will be looking for when checking on compliance with liquor and tobacco laws. "

Bubbele, I can only assume that a term that starts with CAT and ends with FIC has something to do with feline fiction.
Google or boingboing site search might give you a more accurate answer, though.

Leftovers compromise: glass containers with plastic lids

Maxoid, I learned the hard way that "oven-safe" does not necessarily mean "broiler-safe." Just a word of caution.
Also, since I eat while moving around a lot, I've found that a Pyrex pie plate is superior to a normal flat plate for preventing spills off the edge while eating foods with sauces.

Oops, let me amend that previous non-editable post:
"I always thought that moderators should neither be seen nor heard" except in postings, guidelines, or t&c's of *official, declared* policy.

I always thought that moderators should neither be seen nor heard. Hmm, a moderator who is willing to engage in discussion? Sounds dangerous to me. (But, then again, I expect moderators to be impartial and neutral... Ahh, silly me.)

Condé Nast/Wired.com buys Ars Technica
May 16, 2008 5:31pm
MichaelPortent, TechCrunch seems to think that they will be integrated into the Conde Nast family:
They, along with their 8 or so employees, will remain with the company as it is integrated into Wired Digital.

Help me get reliable WiFi over 280ft

#8 GeekPDX, regarding option #2:
What I have done in a similar situation is to also add a cheap timer (Intermatic, you know those ones with the 24h dial and little tabs that turn/off the outlet?), and set it up to powercycle at 3:00am for 15 minutes (the minimum amount of times that you can set the tabs up for). About $10, and the timers should be good for at least 3 year's worth of continuous use.

OK, other than some new ads and sponsor-bashing that's going on here, I really don't detect any effect on the substantive quality of the Boing Boing posts. There are better and bigger things to whine about, people...

Kids' how-to-cheat videos
February 2, 2008 1:55pm
The few times that I had actually gone to the hassle of preparing a cheat sheet did not actually result in any cheating. Just the repetition from my notes onto the sheet and the stress of the situation gave me the short-term memory boost that I needed, and I threw the sheet away before the test started.

Has Hillary Clinton seen the video for the Golden Earring song she plays?
January 28, 2008 7:58pm
I cannot find a reference to either "Golden Earring" or "When the Lady Smiles" by searching her site with Google (+site:hillaryclinton.com to query).
Google News contains one reference (from the disreputable source of the Huffington Post), and all generic web searches seem to be blogspam.
Verification, please?

HOWTO make a stove-top tin-can popcorn popper

There is circumstantial evidence linking this metal (AL) with Alzheimer's disease but no causal relationship has yet been proved. As evidence for other causes continues to grow, a possible link with aluminium seems increasingly unlikely.
http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/site/scripts/documents_info.php?documentID=99
yet:
Epidemiologic evidence strongly suggests a causal role for local environmental conditions relating to availability of aluminum, calcium, and magnesium. In view of the fact that a major consequence of acid rain is the liberation of large amounts of aluminum in bioavailable forms, concerns are raised about possible human health risks of this environmental phenomenon.
