Unless you replace your cellphone every few weeks as well (and pay cash for minutes, which I realize is probably easier over there in Europe than here in the States), they'll have way better information on your movements than they'll get from your Oyster card.

I also agree that it is pretty ugly - one of the things I find beautiful about stringed instruments is their sense of symmetry and balance, as well as a nice wood grain and varnish. This thing wouldn't look that great without the speakers, but using all those plastic speaker rims (and yellow cones, for chrissake!) just makes it look like a hack job piece of shit.

Besides, if I was going to spend $15k on a stereo, it would have a used car attached. That way, when I got fed up with the shitty sound quality, I could just drive it off the end of a pier somewhere.

For $12k, my preferred disposal methodology would be:

1. Buy a boat.

2. Use a screwdriver to open the case of my hard drives.

3. Load said boat with beer, snacks, and friends.

4. Find about a thousand feet of water.

5. Jettison hard drives over the side. If desired, pretend that you are having a wake for your pr0n that you just deep-sixed.

I would be willing to try a flip BlackBerry, solely in the hope that it would last for more than 2 months without requiring replacement. I dunno if anyone else has this problem with their 8830 (I carry it in my front pocket, keys down, screen in), but after a couple of months, the "o", "p", and "end" buttons get progressively harder to use and then stop working.

The SureType keyboard might be a deal breaker, though - does anyone have experience with trying to use one of those with SSH?

(OK, you're right, I only wish that I used SSH from my blackberry all the time...)
