Petition to save Disney World's Adventurer's Club

June 29, 2008 5:48pm

Of course, there are videos of the Adventurer's Club on YouTube. Though I might note that the club is not JUST about songs, they're merely a part of the experience.

Virgin Media UK working with record industry to spy on and threaten downloaders

June 9, 2008 2:17am

@arampus:

What happens when pirating something gives you a better, easier experience for free? Sometimes it's hard not to justify illegally downloading things. When buying a CD could give you a rootkit and legally downloaded songs are chock-full of DRM telling you what you can and can't do, it's hard to turn down a free, DRM-less, higher-quality version of the same thing.

The music industry should take a note from VALVe when they said, "Rampant piracy is just unserved customers."

Virgin Media UK working with record industry to spy on and threaten downloaders

The very fact that over 6.5 million people on just ONE network "regularly" are involved in criminal activity indicates that the law isn't working. The UK has a population of 60-some million. Should over 10% of the population be in jail?

US wastes "27% of food available for consumption"

May 18, 2008 4:52pm

This US food-bashing is getting ridiculous. Wasting 27% is not all that unheard of for a first-world country, especially the richest country in the world.

Get off of your computer and head down to the nearest bakery. Go right before it closes. Now watch as the employees throw away dozens of kilograms of bread.

Or go ask your local grocery store owner how much food they have to throw away because it's passed its sell-by date.

Now welcome to living in the top 5% of the world. This is reality.

Hiroshima bomb pilot dies aged 92

@@bagpipe_bomb:

Don't forget that civilians are not, the Japanese army was forcing its members to kill their families and themselves and the government was telling the civilians to kill themselves. It could be, perhaps, that many more soldiers AND civilians would have died had the war gone on. It's perhaps an unanswerable question, if more would have died or not, and it serves as a prime example of why we should not go to war so recklessly.
