Overweight people have lower death rate
November 8, 2007 2:56am
Okay, I just read the article. It's a little confusing, but it all boils down to no one really knowing why overweight people live longer than normal weight people. The BMI index is helpful in determining how healthy you are, but other variables must be taken into account like muscle mass. However, if you 'listen' to your body you know whether you are of normal weight, overweight, or obese. There are several nasty habits that could be causing normal weight people to die sooner. They would be smoking, excessive drinking, and/or drug abuse. Those habits will kill you, for sure, no matter what your weight. Britney Spears seems to be content with her extra weight right now. Maybe that will add more years to her life? Just a thought.

"Vajayjay?" That's news to me. Well, at least now I'll know what someone is talking about should I hear it. Now, about the guy in S.Africa...he's a piece of 'you know what' - a disgusting prick. Please, spare me anymore details.

0wnz0red in Swedish
November 3, 2007 10:18am
I just read the English version of your Nebula award nominated story. I was so intimidated from seeing it in the Swedish language that, at first, I did not realize you had provided a link. That's the first time I've read a story of its kind and I found it fascinating. Of course, I was looking for more at the end. I thought it might be an excerpt to a novel you are writing? Anyway, it was a great short story and quite descriptive. It's always good to glimpse into another world one doesn't know much about...thanks for sharing.
Digital clock from 1933 weighed 15,000 Lbs
November 2, 2007 4:16am
Is this why we have finally converted from analog to digital completely across the board in the last year or so? Just kidding.... That was an awesome invention in 1933 and it shows how difficult it has been to improve on gadgets in the digital realm. I take my hat off to inventors. Thank you for making my life a lot easier.

Very nice. That's one way of recycling all those old tapes, and a very good one, indeed. I visited his website. He does beautiful work.
Mac trojan in the wild
October 31, 2007 9:11pm
Am I glad I saw this! I have a mac osx v.10.3.9. And I just happened to go to an 'adult' site recommended by someone at technorati. Now... I was curious and clicked to view a 'free' video clip and a message popped up about needing to download new player. I immediately left and cleared my cookies. It it does not use my updated version of quicktime I don't view whatever the video happens to be. Since I'm a woman I was curious, that's all. We all know, women don't look at porn...

Thanks for the background info on the "Blythe Dolls." I will do a Google search and find out all I can about this interesting hobby.
Blythe doll internal organs clothes
October 31, 2007 6:29am
Wow, the Blythe doll is new to me. I guess it's a popular collectible? But my first reaction was that this particular doll displayed could serve as an educational piece for kids. And that's a good idea, imho.
Anti-ripoff megapost from The Consumerist
October 30, 2007 3:56am
Just checked out the Consumerist site...bookmarked it and put it in its own special folder. It is just what I needed. An arsenal of facts and guidelines for doing battle with the ripoff artists is always a good thing to have. And I found good advice on dealing with Hackers on the web, also.
Mr Uncertain's ragtime punk haunt-rock
October 28, 2007 6:03am
I like their style and I viewed their music video clip on their website. Nicely done. I like the phrase "We Don't Care About Nothin'. We Don't Care About Anything..." (ungrammatical, then grammatical). Just in time for Halloween.
No friends yet.

Interesting...I was shocked at first...now I'm laughing. After thinking about it, that is a good "warning sign."
