#44 bonds, physical precious metals and perhaps hedged indexes like SKF or UDN. SKF tracks twice the inverse index of the Dow (so if the dow goes down two percent, skf goes up 4) and UDN tracks the inverse of the dollar-euro (a dollar shorting fund).
If things get worse, start edging out of SKF, UDN and into things like mason jars, toilet paper, ammunition and aero gardens.
Oh. And the person who chose the fund selection for your 401k was probably an HR suit. :)

Southern racists adopt "Canadian" as a euphemism for "black"
January 27, 2008 6:17am
The correct response to BS like this, is exactly what boingboing is doing. Shine the good light of reason and direct attention towards the irrationality; wait for the knowledge of it to spread.
As a Nashville resident I have loudly and publicly confronted people using the word Canadian instead of its vulgar counterpart. Without fail, they stammer, stutter, blush and are humiliated by being exposed as the ignorant bigots they are; unable to defend their behavior they are forced to retreat (though they never apologize).
My friend has parents that used to use the word frequently until she married an actual Canadian. When she told them that he was Canadian they went totally ape-shit. She informed them that they were not invited to the wedding. When they found out he wasn't black (oh the relief... you should've seen it), they apologized. They're still bigots, but possibly one degree less so now.

#42:I regret not only thay the teacher disseminated prejudiced and inaccurate information, but that Cory passed it along uncritically.
Yeah, I agree 100%. I'm no fan of McDonalds, but such laughably bad reasoning is only ammo for the other side. This is pretty bad "journalism" by a pretty bad "educator." Especially as the woman posting this has no formal degree or training other than her own experience. Add to that the fact that she has no idea what the word "nutrition" means, and this becomes a glaring example of absurd and easily dismissed criticism, of something that absolutely deserves criticism of the well thought out variety. This is such an awful post. How this made boingboing is beyond me.
