Iggy and the Stooges' gear was stolen, help 'em find it!

August 5, 2008 1:50pm

damn no one should be able to steal Mike Watt's bass & get away with it. That's just plain wrong.

it's also probably really bad karma. I hope whoever did it gets what they have coming.

Spikes in Seattle pond not malicious

@#3: "The Parks Department says they were placed in the lake more than 20 years ago to hold down plastic sheeting in an attempt to control water plants."

Lessons Learned.

Why is someone putting sharp spikes in park ponds?

July 17, 2008 2:09pm

@11: "What if a (sick) bird lover felt angry at people wading through ponds and lakes disturbing his beloved ducklings and just wants them to stop doing this? It looks to me just like applying good old American problem solving techniques to a new field of dispute."

interesting point - I remember hearing that hikers were stretching wire across single-track trails in parks where there were mountain bike/hiker disputes, (I've no idea if that ever happened.. could be pure fiction); but I do wonder if this could be some kind of insane version of same.

@1,
clutter rules! At least around me it does. How can one be free and happy and commando and joyful amidst so much artificially enforced order.

We have a light rail that runs on the same system as the one mentioned in #33 in my home town - but it's jersey city nj.... Still, most people do buy tickets. To my surprise, I might add :).

Brit MP calls for photographers' rights

April 11, 2008 11:24am

I've certainly been approached by Police - mostly in NYC - and told that I am 'not allowed' to take photo's in certain areas. I usually take a shot of the cop and walk away. I know of at least one person who likes to shoot in the subway and carries a copy of the law that stipulates that it's legal to do so, because he's been approached so often.

I think its a pretty serious infringement; and am willing to be confrontational when approached.

@NE2D - according to this 'law of innernet wrongness' you cite, your own post 'has a high probability of being mistaken itself.".

or does that only apply to scolding 'not done by NE2D'.

October 19, 2007 9:20am

this is pretty futile.

Why don't they spend some time and resources blocking botnet drones from spamming - oh right, that might actually *help* as opposed to *hinder*, so it's against their charter.

Mark Dery on Taco Bell

September 6, 2007 11:44am

well the big reason for me is: vegetarian fast food.
(bean & cheese burrito). I'd love to never ever eat fast food, but sometimes ya got no choice. As a vegetarian, it's either Taco Bell or a baked potato from Wendy's.
