I donated $20. I'm from Oklahoma, and I therefore completely empathize with Sean's plight. Anything that I can do to help local non-fundies/constitutionalists/smart people is money well spent.
I really appreciate the work that local people getting involved in politics are doing. It does wonders for my (seemingly lacking) faith in humanity. As for people saying we shouldn't influence these elections, because we don't live there? I would agree if the local elections were actually local. Here in Oklahoma we routinely have people running for state legislature who receive tens of thousands in donations from the likes of AT&T, Exxon, and the RNC. If it's fair game, it's fair game.

I'm just going to echo many other comments and state that I find your inclusion of paper money, and its accompanying reasoning, to be irksome to my logical sensibilities. The idea of a fiat money system is nothing more than a ticking time bomb due to its detachment from the gold standard.

Thank you so much, Xeni. Of all the "April Fools" jokes, this is positively my favorite.

Has your website been unfairly blocked by censorware?

I wanted to post about some fun issues I've run into with SurfControl at my office. Blogs randomly get blocked by SurfControl for being "pornographic." For example, my best friend's blog was blocked for having pornography. However, his blog tends to center around video games and whatever anime he's watching at the time. I've scoured his blog and found no trace of anything resembling a naked lady.
SurfControl also randomly blocks certain portions of craigslist, depending on how it feels that day.

You are correct that it isn't the act of holding a phone that distracts you; it's the conversation. That's the worst part about all of the legislation banning hand-held cell phone usage. They are making useless laws simply so they appear to be doing something.
