New Gnarls Barkley video and backstory

May 13, 2008 12:24pm

This is wonderful. I am inversely reminded of a hilarious old Bloom County cartoon where Opus complained that music videos wrecked his mental imagery. That being the worst case scenario, this video is the best case: Wendy has produced a masterpiece that is totally in keeping of my impression of the song, only much much more so.

I love it. I love everything about it.

The Giant Pool of Money, Explained

I too want to recommend this episode and the podcast is available now! I now feel like I have a decent layman's understanding ... where as a few days ago I was completely confused by how we go into this mess.

I love This American Life as it usually is, but I would love it if there could be a weekly show in this format as well. There are many complex, difficult problems in the world that would benefit from this kind of analysis: nuanced, non-judgmental, and easy to understand.

Will Eisner's magazine for Army mechanics

April 22, 2008 10:22pm

Wow. I worked at the VCU archive when they first started to take in comics and I got to get the collection going (ended up hopelessly in love with comics in the process). Thrilled to see that it's grown so much 20 years later.

My real comment is that the cover with a tank would be awesome updated for a recycling/ reusing campaign. "Stop! There's a lot of art you could make from that jeep!"

Area 51 is in Nevada. Maybe you guys are confusing it with Roswell?

Poltergeists and quantum mechanics

BD Josephson is an amazing guy who did some awesome important research once upon a time. These days he devotes himself to to finding proof of the paranormal. I don't think he'd be so flippant about research so in line with his own ... therefore it's got to be a hoax, with a very subtle punchline.

I was in hysterics by the end, at least.

Those are cute and it's obvious that a lot of thought went into the design. Kudos to the maker!

I thought this looked staged and I was right:

An advertising agency wrote the song and brought the girl in because they wanted a chick singer for the whole affirmative action look. So if it's the girl (who hopes for a career with Up With People) or the song that you like, that part is fabricated.

I saw rugs like this prominently for sale at the Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson, AZ last week.

I would like to draw attention to a previous posting on Boing Boing:

Might this be another case of police slang being misinterpreted?

Gabe & Max: now YOU can ask them how to get the Dream Life of YOUR Dreams.

October 23, 2007 8:38pm

Hi Gabe and Max:

I am a lonely lady who very much likes cats, especially pictures of cats, especially that one poster of a cat on a branch that says "Hang in there." That one kills me, ha ha.

Is there any way I can use the internets to increase the amount of cat pictures in my life, preferably ones with humorous captions?

No friends yet.
