Fear and self-loathing in stealing Wi-Fi

June 23, 2008 6:45pm

There are three reasons why I leave mine open:
1. It makes me feel all altruistic
2. I live in a suburb with a lot of people. Not a lot of tech savvies who'll take advantage of it.
3. It protects me from liability. If anyone tries to tell me I did something wrong (legally) with my connection, they won't be able to prove it was me, which makes it quite a bit harder.

Violent Femmes perform Gnarls Barkley's CRAZY

June 21, 2008 8:16am

Really cool. And eMusic doesn't have it yet. hmph.

Sugarkane "Occhiali" asymmetric sunglasses

June 11, 2008 8:34am

dculberson: I disagree. I've been using autotints as my default glasses for two years now, and I'm really happy with them.

The Star Wars musical floppy

June 11, 2008 8:28am

That is so incredibly awesome. I want it as an mp3, so I can use it as my ringtone.

DIY robot fingers cheat at Guitar Hero in style

June 11, 2008 8:26am

I concur with Slugabed. This alone isn't gonna be able to play GH.
It would be fun if there was a controller for the artificial fingers, so you could play GH remotely.

The swastika is not a nazi symbol, damn your eyes.

State dept. won't say why UK music scholar is barred from US

September 20, 2007 7:39am

Dillinger: The scary thing is that they won't even tell where the fucking line is. I'm so fucking angry right now, I think I need to have about half a pack of fags.

State dept. won't say why UK music scholar is barred from US

September 20, 2007 7:38am

Yes! I'm so looking forward to my next trip to the US! It's like a fortune cookie of annoyance, degradation and danger.
Do you know what the very first article of my country's constitution is? "Human dignity shall be inviolable". I'm suddenly very proud of that.

NBC to launch crappiest ever video download site

September 20, 2007 7:32am

Let the stupids infest their computers with DRM.
Also: Even if it's free, it's crap. And if enough people jump on this - cuz' it's free, doncha know - the level of manure they will endure on their HDs will be lowered. And suddendly paying 5 bucks to rent a self destructing copy of the newest episode of Wife Swap won't seem so bad.

Winamp Lives!

September 14, 2007 4:35am

Winamp. Haw. Man, that shit didn't die yet? Haven't used that ever since AOL bought nullsoft. Try Amarok. It's worth switching to Linux just for the awesometastic music powerhouse that Amarok is.

Smart New Speedometer Concept from Johnson Controls

September 14, 2007 4:33am

What's new about this? My step-father's Mercedes does this, and that car is over two years old (granted it doesn't use the display in the middle for GPS data).

StopTheSpying: Tell the Dems to keep AT&T on the hook for NSA wiretapping

September 11, 2007 7:28am

Does it even matter that American congress has a Dem majority? It seems to be the same conglomerate of nodding monkeys it used to be.

The militarization of our police and raids gone wrong

September 4, 2007 5:51am

Ain't sure where to put it put I have a suggestion for the site:
Could you put rss-feeds for the individual comment-threads in there so people can keep track of those without having to manually check them?

Boing Boing Gadgets: the latest posts

September 4, 2007 5:45am

I'm thinking there's two kinds of users here: Those who check BBGadgets anyway, and those who don't care. These BBGadgets-roundup posts are superfluous for both.
