For Love of Water: infuriating and incredible documentary about world's water-crisis

April 13, 2008 3:51am

"In the US and Europe, the bottled water industry pulls in billions to sell products that are more contaminated and toxic than what comes out of the tap."

Back up that libelous, untrue, and basically made-up statement, Cory, or cross it out.

I can't believe they're letting him do this. Somebody oughta nail that guy to a Volkswagen or shoot him or something.

Site helps you find rotten neighbors

Good think Mark got to this link first before Cory, before the story was "Amazing Google Mashup Allows You To Declare Rotten Neighbors".

Next Nature -- a designer's vision of a nature overtaken by corporatism

There's a typo. You said "presentation" when you meant to say "stiffly-read book report sullenly calling out a bullet-point list of ways in which people have used "stuff" to build things, or a few cribbed sci-fi mentions".

Warner to sell no-DRM MP3s on Amazon

Oh, God, Cory, this is crazy, even for you.

I'd estimate there are maybe a handful of lines in there that aren't recap of drumbeats you've been slamming on your audience for half a decade now. I really want to keep reading your stuff, but gee whilikers, you're starting to sound like the very broken records that you obviously want banished in favor of digital recordings. Is it your intention to punish your regular reading audience with a constant flow of "Sony made a rootkit" every time anyone mentions MP3s, digital file sales, or the iPod?

Damn, my head hurts.

Free ebook: The Best That Ever Did It

Boy, sure would like to see, somewhere, anywhere, how this book is authorized for distribution. The site mentions that many pieces come from Gutenberg's 2003 collection, but not this case.

In fact, there's no credit for transcription and no indication where it came from, as far as I can tell.

Trailer for documentary about 4-year-old abstract painter

September 12, 2007 1:50pm

I had the pleasure of watching this film in a senak preview yesterday. It discusses and considers all the issues brought up so far, and more. You walk away with conclusions, interesting discussions; we had a Q&A after the screening with the director and it was tough to let him go (he had flown in from Toronto).

This is a solid piece of work, and not just a light "ha ha painting 4 year old" puff piece.

I'm sure the right of "first sale" applies here. I'm sure, also, that the "right of never giving you the opportunity of first sale again" applies as well. I concur with the opinion that this is a person who made a bad decision, screwed over a place that tracked back his leaking it, and can expect reduced "favors" next time.

The "but then you might not get into some press outlets" is lame, and powerless. They will route around you like damage, sir.
