Brando has 16-port USB hubs in stock

July 8, 2008 8:56am

I've gone through three USB hubs and seem to be burning through a forth. Either they overheat or I think my MIDI keyboard is frying them; they just stop working. Anyone know why this is happening, and if I bought something like this, would there be anything to prevent it from happening again?

Phone Wrist Strap Doubles as USB Cable

I got this thanks to the tip from you guys. It's great! I use it all the time with my T-mobile wing and my Zoom H2. The ring that connects the strap to the cable was flimsy and eventually bent off, but that was easily replaced with another keychain ring.

There was nothing cool about the serialists, please don't bring them back.

Awesome, though lacks a lives system.
Agreed that custom text (for Bush quotes and spammer text) and maybe custom images would be cool. It's pretty cathartic.

Microsoft Research's MySong automatically chooses chords to play with vocals

March 3, 2008 2:40pm

The algorithm doesn't seem to have any understanding of functional harmony in chordal movement except in the 5-1 cadences in the end. Interesting concept but this sounds about as useful as auto-accompaniment on cheap keyboards.

This is exciting! The bits could use more introductions / transitions, but I also like that it's short and to the point.
Nice work!

Woman dies in security custody at airport

This doesn't make any sense. Think about it. If her arms were handcuffed behind her back, she couldn't twist them backwards and over her head to strangle herself, if anything she'd try to step through them to bring them to the front. If she had them in front of her, why would she bring them above her head and behind her neck? Even than, why would she squeeze her elbows? It would be too loose to asphyxiate herself. Unless they handcuffed her arms crossed and then behind her neck, this doesn't make any sense. Either way, it's suspicious.
