Clockwork cufflinks

April 9, 2008 9:33pm

Never mind what these would do to your suit--the cufflinks themselves look fragile if they caught on something! Especially the poor little balance wheel... I bet it still swings sadly back and forth...neglected...forgotten...

Teen pranksters switch off San Francisco's electric buses

March 11, 2008 2:36pm

At #21 XOPHER,

You'd only have to shoot the passengers if they were Democrats.

Democrat Reaction to Hooligan Blasting: [Hippy crap]

Republican Reaction to Hooligan Blasting: "Those bastards threw rocks at me! Here, use my gun."

Teen pranksters switch off San Francisco's electric buses

At #16 assumetehposition,

That is hilarious and accurate. I'm trying to think how the Dems could argue that:

--this violates my Constitutional right as an American to (blah blah blah...)

--George W. is a dictator and had these switches installed on the buses as a backdoor... (blah blah blah...)

But it's not my line of thinking, so I can't finish those thoughts...
If the switches are required to be unlocked (as some kind of emergency shutdown, as suggested above), why not put a simple indicator light near the driver that blinks when the switch is pressed? Maybe even a secondary switch next to the light so that the driver doesn't have to get out of the bus and flick the switch back on?
Shouldn't be too hard of a fix, I'm guessing.

Skateboard hating cop caught on video for 2nd temper tantrum

@ dragonfrog #72

That video is excellent.

Rational Cop vs. Rational Person = Boring.
Rational Cop vs. Irrational Person = Amusing and inspiring.
Irrational Cop vs. Rational Person = Somehow, these don't turn up on YouTube very often...
Irrational Cop vs. Irrational Person = OMG Hitler, police brutality.

I dunno. Before I wrote that little grid, I thought it might be illuminating. Meh. I just get tired of everyone treating these videos like there's some kind of anti-justice conspiracy. They're entertainment. You get to watch some punk get his ass kicked by a police officer dressed like a clown. FOR FREE. Lighten up.

Skateboard hating cop caught on video for 2nd temper tantrum

I'm with squashy and malcolmkass.

We already know that there's a lot of people out there who suck at what they do.

Screaming and whining "POLICE BRUTALITY!!!!" and "DICTATOR RULE!!!!" every time some story like this comes up is very annoying.

(Yes, I still read all of the comments...)

Stop bitching that the TSA made you take your laptop out of its bag. Stop bitching that, once in a while, inexpert police officers meet people who, instead of politely following instructions, insist on making a big deal about it. It happens.

Stop acting like everyone's out to get you.

Thank you.

Back to the fuzzy, knit, unicorn tea cozies, then.

TSA apologizes to "blogesphere" for arbitrary gadget screenings

February 6, 2008 10:13pm

I'm impressed. The other posts aren't bad. It gives a human face to TSA. Just like a funny commercial makes that company seem more human and friendly, this blog makes TSA seem friendly. At least they're saying, in a way, that it's okay to ask questions and raise concerns.

Strange iPod/booze/Fat Tuesday remark aside, I think this is a brilliant idea.

Amazon Kindle: the Web makes Amazon go bad crazy

November 20, 2007 7:53pm

Why oh why no wifi?!

Wifi is at least pretty open and pretty standard!

EVDO is Sprint. Only. While they feel like it.

I could always get a wifi router, years down the road, and plug the thing in. What if EVDO gets replaced? Maybe electrical gadgets aren't meant to last so long that this is an issue, but I don't really like the dependency on Sprint. For example, like others said, it won't work outside of the US.

I might even prefer no EVDO, no wifi-- at least I'm not paying for the hardware (plus other stuff for EVDO). If I can store hundreds of books on a tiny card, I don't need to be connected to the intarweb all the time. And if I really need the book, I'm sure I'll figure out those dang bookstores.

But then Amazon doesn't get their cut... hmm.

I still think wifi would be the way to go.

Wifi + keyboard maybe touchscreen + textbook companies=== school ass-kicking machine. Receive, work on, and submit homework from one device--wirelessly from any hotspot in the world.

All of my textbooks in that slim device instead of 40 metric shit-loads worth of paper textbooks.

I'd definitely (probably) get one if it consolidated the school mess. Homework submission, wikipedia, textbooks in one device would be godly amazing.

Wi-Fi Detecting Light-Up T-Shirt

If these are like the "equalizer" beat sensitive shirts, the light up part is a hard, thick, square of plastic.

All coolness is lost right there.

Does the guy not like Pepsi or are there actually no Pepsi machines around his wanderings?

Here's hoping to both.
