Yikes, I agree with Mauric. You can spot this as a fake from the first glance, no specular highlights needed. Look at Ryan looking like he was copied and pasted behind the others.

I had this toy about ten years ago in the shape of a raw egg. We bought several for stocking stuffers.
Yes, it's the same material as the toys that crawl down glass. Yes they get dirty but can be restored pretty well by washing. And yes, a little residue is left behind to ruin wall paper, etc...

I completely agree (though I read the book, didn't listen to the audio). Chabon's novel reminds me a bit of Martin Cruz Smith's Russian detective novels...
