USDA reports 406,000 pounds of "cattle heads containing prohibited materials recalled"

April 10, 2008 1:48pm

Tonsils? My guess is that it's a similar reason as to why the "head table" workers got sick.

http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2007/12/07/11_minn_slaughterhouse_workers_fall_ill/

December 7, 2007

ST. PAUL, Minn.—On the slaughterhouse floor at Quality Pork Processors Inc. is an area known as the "head table," but not because it is the place of honor. It is where workers cut up pigs' heads and then shoot compressed air into the skulls until the brains come spilling out.
more stories like this

But now the grisly practice has come under suspicion from health authorities.

Over eight months from last December through July, 11 workers at the plant in Austin, Minn. -- all of them employed at the head table -- developed numbness, tingling or other neurological symptoms, and some scientists suspect inhaled airborne brain matter may have somehow triggered the illnesses.

The use of compressed air to remove pig brains was suspended at Quality Pork earlier this week while authorities try to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Lost mechanical servant of 1961

#5 -- I don't think it's just you. This photo has sex all over it -- the house wife's fantasy-answer to all the cheating absentee husbands... like those glorified cheaters fucking their secretaries in AMC's series "Mad Men." I'd even go so far as to say that the robot looks a little black (or at least wearing black-face). This was 1961 after all.

Fuji makes you sign bizarre EULA to buy a camera

April 2, 2008 2:51pm

As this is the "Fujifilm UVIR Digital Camera USA End User License Agreement," I wonder if customers in other countries must agree to similar EULAs... but then, considering the (ahem) "post-9/11 world" that we're living in, I could also imagine that it might be illegal to import this technology into the states, even if I could buy it legally abroad...

Guess I'll just stick with my Pentax K1000 for a little while longer.

Vegan strippers

March 27, 2008 1:39pm

It's just nasty to contemplate eating ANYTHING in a strip club. (I guess it's somehow related to the old saying "don't shit where you eat.") Maybe *that's* why the business is failing.

That said, show me a vegan/pirate-themed restaurant and I'm there!
