Why does everybody think this is a bad idea, or make fun of it? Seriously, it can be used to show that an officer identified himself, fired a warning shot, was threatened, whatever -- or not.

I'd be rather more worried about "spontaneous malfunctions". This should be compulsory for all law enforcement personnel.

I recommend Mark Twain's "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". It deals with the exact same topic. Oh, and I agree, basic 21st century knowledge should give you a headstart. You can always go discover America, if you feel like it :)

As has been noted, this is no Babelfish translation (grammar is way too coherent, for what it's worth) but still very good: excellent acting, too.

Schäuble (yes, there's a pesky umlaut in there) predictably downplayed the whole thing, saying it does not change his opinion. Still, a cool real-life hack.
