Well, without the plushy vagina it's just 'art collective' wankery, but at least they've got that going for them.

"Karl Schroeder: Climate change will outrun the Singularity"
Probably, because the 'singularity' won't be anything special for a long time. You know what's smarter than one scientist, a million scientists. Have a million scientists led us to the 'promised land' and solved all our problems using technology at an exponential rate. No? Neither will a smarter-than-human computer.
The fundamental problem with the singularity and 'geek rapture' nonsense: There is no good reason to believe a smarter-than-human computer will be able to improve itself at an exponential rate.
Lovely aluminum furniture that will last hundreds of years

"Cole sez, "I make highly sustainable furniture out of aluminum that involves no fasteners or moving parts. My furniture will last functionally for hundreds of years and it's aesthetically pleasing as well. Watch out, I am currently designing a table in a steampunky style.""
Seriously, quit the eco-bullshit, what kind of idiot would buy that mining, refining, smelting and shaping aluminum is in any way ecologically friendly?

"Seriously Noen, WTF?
It seems to happen a lot that I am not able to make myself understood. I don't know why that is."
I have a suspicion you're understood perfectly.

"Boys talking about feminism, heh, that's always amusing." and then 'Their maturity is on a par with guys who refer to women old enough to be working in strip bars as "girls"'
Better go tuck that in, your hypocrisy is showing.
Oh and girls talking about feminism is about as amusing as astrologers talking about astrology.

Flowchart: How D&D is a gateway drug to every flavor of nerdiness
March 9, 2008 3:54pm
This would have been great had it been actually clever rather than merely trying to be.
Anyone who liked this flow chart is not actually 'in' the geek crowd and just knows the memes but not the connection, like the author.

Don't make those famine victims carry around extra weight, they're already about to snap in half, although I'm sure there's a gay man somewhere that thinks they look good.

Would a tighter Jobesque mock turtle be more or less truth? Have you ever attended a freshman philosophy course on the day they studied ascetics, did you find that lecture overly sophisticated?

Why do fashion designers always wear boring black shirts from the gap? Insight indeed, eat your own dog food.
TED 2008 -- Susan Blackmore

"We now have temes (tech memes) are a third repliciator on our planet."
Is this really the best Ted could do? Just from the above boingboing posts, why did they pick a bunch of women to do all the touchy feely nonsense? If I were a feminist I'd be offended by their choices.

Why don't you 'check out' the wikipedia entry:
"The technological singularity is a hypothesised point in the future variously characterized by the technological creation of self-improving intelligence, unprecedentedly rapid technological progress, or some combination of the two.[1] Statistician I. J. Good first wrote of an "intelligence explosion", suggesting that if machines could even slightly surpass human intellect, they could improve their own designs in ways unseen by their designers, and thus recursively augment themselves into far greater intelligences."
The fundamental idea of the 'singularity' is that it is a rapidly self-improving, exponential, machine intelligence. The fundamental flaw with this idea is that there's no good reason to believe machine intelligence (or some hybrid therein), even higher than human intelligence, will be capable of exponential self-improvement.
