Wikihistory: sf story about the revert-wars among time-travellers -- "everybody kills Hitler on their first trip"

No, no, you simply convince Hitler to emigrate to the US after WWI and become a science fiction writer. As he dies of syphylis in the 1950's he writes a book......oh wait, Norman Spinrad already did that...nevermind.

Cambridge University's secret porn stash isn't

February 16, 2008 9:11am

There is a book entitled "Velvet Eden" by Richard Merkin (if that is his real name) which is a collection of victorian pornographic images. Quite a find I must say for only a dollar at the local library book sale.

Taxonomy of regional pizza styles

January 25, 2008 7:10am

TWIG, you are right, and here is my contribution: Micheal's in Elkhart Indiana. It's basically an old railroad town 100 miles due east of Chicago. A lot of Italians worked on the railroad so there were a lot of immigrant residences, much to the benefit of everyone, especially the realm of pizza. Their style fits in with the "midwest" style, hand tossed and baked in a kiln style oven (as opposed to the conveyer oven). Just thinking about it I can taste it.

Delta blues and Tuvan throat-singing: Paul Pena and Genghis Blues

I liked the movie as well as the soundtrack. I second the recommendation of Yat-Kha, I saw them here in Indiana doing the music for the silent film "Storm Over Asia". The projectionist could not get the movie started for an hour and a half, so they gave us an impromptu concert. I also recommend Hun Huur Tu.

Disturbing? Ha! Disturbing to me was alt.sex.barney. die.die.die.die.die.die.die.die, but that was the early '90's.

Any link that causes me to grab and review several books and websites is a good link. Good thing I had my trusty copy of "The Illuminatus Trilogy" handy.
