Survey: 14-24 year olds want to pay for their music but await the perfect service

June 17, 2008 8:31am

I don't like monthly subscription plans. There was a music site that everyone liked and they paid money for thier music. It was called allofmp3.com and it got shut down because it was russian and breaking all sorts of laws. The problem with itunes and the like is that I don't want to pay 75% the price of physical disc for digital downloads. $.99 per song is not a good deal. They just need to drop their prices to about 20 cents per song and I think itunes popularity will skyrocket.

Wow that cover design is WAY better than the other design.

Awesome rant against Diet Pepsi

February 28, 2008 1:57pm

Most diet sodas are terrible. That's why they have to lie so much in the TV comercials. It's for people who are addicted to soda and think regular soda makes them fat so they drink this shit all day.Just stop drinking so much freaking soda. Then you can enjoy a regular one with sugar every once in a while and not worry about it making you fat. I mean, how fat is regular soda going to make you anyway?

Bullshit. Prove it.

Venus Fly trap time-lapse video

February 25, 2008 4:40pm

If this one guy can do time lapse shots like this, it makes the times lapse shots on BBC's Planet Earth documentary seem less mind bogglingly impossible. Impressive!

Now you, too, can engage in warrantless wiretapping!

Awesome!

Commerce Dept docs: Cheney and oil execs decided to take Iraq's oil in spring 2001

February 21, 2008 8:37am

It is known that Bush had plans to invade Iraq shortly after he was elected before 9/11. Bob Woodward said so in one of his books.

Did Edison die poor?

February 19, 2008 9:29am

Thomas Edison was a puppy killer because he was too selfish and arrogant to accept that his model was the worse of the two.

Truth about teleportation

February 15, 2008 11:09pm

It's like when the art world decided that new art stopped being "modern" and is now postmodern or contemporary despite the fact that people have probably been calling new art "modern" for hundreds of years...They redefined the word which is bullshit.

Truth about teleportation

February 15, 2008 2:47pm

@ dculberson #19

It's just like in the movie the Prestige. You can make a copy of someone but then you have to kill the original person. If you have not seen this movie, I just ruined it for you.

Truth about teleportation

February 15, 2008 12:37pm

@Lionelbrits

Yes, but no matter what, they are still two different electrons. Even if there is no distinguishable difference. It's like If I send someone an MP3 and then delete my copy. They are the same file but still DIFFERENT instances of an identical item.

Truth about teleportation

February 15, 2008 11:40am

They can call that teleportation but it's just a word they are using because they don't have any other word that fits more closely. True it has amazing implications for the future of quantum computing but it's not true teleportation. It's Quantum teleportation. It doesnt transport energy or matter. Transporting matter is what I consider to be teleportation.

Truth about teleportation

February 15, 2008 11:19am

"Teleportation is a protocol about how to send a quantum state—a wave function—from one place to another."

So says this guy. Well guess what? Teleportation doesn't exist yet so how can he define a technology that doesn't exist as a "protocol" or anything else? Teleportation is not a specific "technology". It's whatever the future invents it as.

US Customs TSA confiscating laptops

Shadow Unit: award-winning sf writers create "fan site for a show that never existed"

January 11, 2008 2:36pm

So...why don't they try to pitch a real show? Experienced sci-fi and fantasy authors do that sometimes. I'm sure everyone involved would feel much more fulfilled. Sometimes these shows EVEN GET POPULAR.

Mitsubishi's elevator-testing tower

January 3, 2008 11:06am

That would require some sort of elevator testing pyramid structure. But what about the elevators that go nowhere?

C.I.A. destroyed interrogation videotapes

December 6, 2007 10:17pm

Shouldnt the REAL headline be "C.I.A. destroyed interrogation videotapes AND THEN TELLS US ABOUT IT" I mean, they probably destroy evidence all the time. Hardly ever do they admit it.

Juvenille bigfoot or mangy bear?

October 24, 2007 2:04pm

Also, it doesnt say anything about mangy bears in Pennsylvania. The photo on the right was taken in Florida...so I really don't see how the mangy bear photo makes the first one questionable.

Manga's Japanese decline -- and the copyright infringers who are stopping it

October 23, 2007 2:45pm

Hy hv sbscrptn t ths mgzn!!! Ths s lk th ffth rtcl ths wk tkn frm wrd why nt jst hv bngbng rtcl ttld "rd wrd mgzn" nd b dn wth t?... I think WIRED jumps the gun too much. They claim that manga is sweeping the nation and that the manga section is bigger than the scifi section at most bookstores but it's really not. My local barnes and noble has a 3 foot wide section devoted to graphics novels and manga, whereas the scifi section is two whole isles...I see a much larger interest in graphic novels around here (Los Angeles).

Hunt for the twirly-faced pedophile

October 16, 2007 10:45am

Is that supposed to be the same guy or something? Because that looks like two different guys...
