Gun owners are the happiest people in the US
April 21, 2008 3:10pm
All the people I know with one or two guns are fine.
It's the people that collect them and run drills as to when they are going to be victims of a home invasion that are scary. It's like they want it to happen so they can inflict some kind of justice; their way of armchair vigilantism. Maybe they see some terrible things on TV and it's their way of not really solving the problem, but hoping that there will be a chance when they can make a dent in it.
Water filled plastic bags on trees scare bugs away?

I have no idea how this would work. Most insects wouldn't discern a bag of water based on sight. It'd all be via smell or pheromones, which a bag of water is not giving off.
You can keep bees from your picnic by leaving bowls of beer at the periphery. They'll be really attracted to the beer (aren't we all!), and hopefully not bother you.
Japanese ads downplay URLs, encourage searches

The Japanese also use QCodes a lot. They're 2-d barcodes that you see typically on UPS packaging here in the states. You can take a photo of them with your cellphone, it'll read the barcode, and take you to a website describing the product/location in more detail, and maybe even a GPS coordinate if your phone supports it.
It's like a printed augmented reality, and you've got the decoder ring in your pocket. Very cool.
