For the humour-impaired (myself included), can we take it that "brave" is being used very much tongue-in-cheek?

Trivia. In the new Battlestar Galactica, an empty vehicle loading area inside a (presumably Vancouver) ferry appears in the guise of a maintenance area.

New York Sun column: "Why I Let My 9-Year-Old Ride the Subway Alone"

April 12, 2008 1:20am

Back in junior high in the late 70s, my friend wasn't allowed to go home for lunch - his working mother was worried that he'd fall down the stairs. Another friend, an only child, wasn't allowed to leave the subdivision for fear of his getting clipped by a car on the main street. Paranoid parents aren't new. Any pointers to quantitative studies showing we are, as a society, getting increasingly paranoid about our kids' welfare?

BTW, here's my 4 year-old playing with power tools (yes, granted, she isn't doing it alone just yet): http://tinyurl.com/4yvd5a.

Air Canada: for $35, we'll let you talk to customer-service reps who can actually help you with a cancelled flight

April 4, 2008 6:11am

I frequently fly United/Qantas from Canada to Australia. Last week I decided to try Air Canada's Vancouver-Sydney service. Holy hell (ode to Corner Gas) what a terrible airline ... it felt like I was on a cheap charter flight. I swear that on the way to Sydney we went 10 hours+ without anything to eat or drink. And while the seat-back entertainment system is appreciated (now standard on most airlines), Air Canada force you to watch commercials - the same three - over and over and over. Now I know why the fare was cheaper than Qantas.

I showed this to my Japanese wife. To Noriko, it seems perfectly reasonable that the woman lost her job. It's got to be cultural ...

Ronald Jenkees; Hello YouTubes, have you heard my SICK beats?

His act is very similar to the Bubbles character from Canada's "Trailer Park Boys" TV series. You can see and hear Bubbles in the trailer for the movie, http://www.trailerparkboys.com/. (Disclaimer: no affiliation with TPB, just a Canadian fan, eh.)
