FBI looking for vegan potluck terrorists

May 22, 2008 7:11am

"It's always those evil communist nazi peace loving vegans, I tell you!" said Prez Shrubbery "Furthermore, I demand that they cut down a tree...with, a Herring!" At which point an advisor told him that he was on the wrong script again, and besides, it was time for his medication...

Flying penis disrupts Russian meeting

May 20, 2008 4:43pm

Re: #32 by Nelson.C

It is not a "winged" penis that is the joke, it is a "flying penis" where is the joke! Especially one that is in a place one would not expect...not that you expect flying penises anywhere....except for maybe the film Caligula...but that's from the univers next door...not this one...or is it...it's hard to keep the universes sorted out...

Flying penis disrupts Russian meeting

May 20, 2008 6:13am

As much as the Second Lifers wish to think that they were the original "Flying Penis" prank, Revered alt-culture writer Robert Anton Wilson wrote the scene in his book _Schrodinger's Cat_, which took place in a church and involved one of the characters, named Eva Gebloomenkraft. The book (actually, orignally published as a Trilogy, known as The Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy, back in the 1980's) predates Second Life by decades.

9 Common Idioms That Come from Technology

April 2, 2008 8:30am

One that I hear all the time from parents is "down time" for their kids or from their kids. Originally from computers, refers to the time a system is turned off. Reminds me of a grate button from nancy's button catalog: "Nice computers don't go down". :-)

Boing Boing's Moderation Policy

March 27, 2008 1:21pm

Wow, that's a great, if somewhat long moderation policy. I love the concept of "disemvowelling"!

For contrast, here is the link to an wiki article I wrote on the subject for the local Linux users group:

Runnin' With the Beatles

March 10, 2008 1:28pm

My only complaint is that the DLR vocals were too "in front". I would have dropped them a bit, so the resonance of the sound booth wasn't as prevalent, and it blended in more with the Beatles. But then again, I'm a production geek. :-)

Flying witches observed in English forest.

February 14, 2008 7:28am

Brilliant! That must have taken a lot of work! Great live action stop-motion animation in the style of Mike Jittlov!

Basically, the simplest form of this animation is that they are just jumping, and the frames where they jump are edited out, leaving only the top of their jumps, making it look like they fly!

Check out Jittlov's glow in the dark site:

Woman's lower half as wooden end table

February 4, 2008 11:33am

Reminds me of the ZZ Top video...tanj, can't remember the name of the song the video is for...But it's also kind of creepy.

Fun pocket synthesizer

February 1, 2008 2:00pm

OK, so it's Korg's KAOS Pad with built in sounds and a squencer...nice. I prefer my Alesis AirSynth...sort of like a one-handed Theremin.

Gibson Robot Guitar

January 14, 2008 5:13pm

This is such an awesome guitar...I believe Jeff Martin, formerly of The Tea Party has one of these now. If you have ever tried learning any of The Tea Party's tunes, you will quickly find out that not many of them are in a standard tuning...and Jeff Martin has to change guitars constantly during concerts to accommodate the various tunings he uses.

Nice...prettty...and computer geeky!
