For those asking about size:
"Size: 33 x 16.5 x 11.5cm."
For inch people, that'd be 13 x 6.5 x 4.5. The tube is supposed to taper though, and I'm sure the measurement includes the cap. I'd say.. it would probably best fit a standard TP roll if you first used 1/4 to 1/2 of the roll from #1's preferred stationary position.
Whistleblower says Feds have highspeed backdoor into major US wireless carrier's network
March 5, 2008 5:43pm
Wireless phone signals aren't very secure in the first place. Yes, it's foolish to let a third party walk in the door and have full access to the records, but, no, it's not as though the third party couldn't have tapped into the signal anyway.

Raccoon takes cat's food: video
February 13, 2008 11:11am
We have a similar problem with our two outdoor cats. Although they usually deal with the raccoon much more aggressively than did the cat in the video, sometimes they are not vigilant enough and he gets some of their food. He also uses their water bowl to wash things, which is pretty cool to watch.

I liked #15 (the cape!), #44 (the only person who actually seems to know how to play the drum), #59 (best hair ever), and #78 (the suit!) the best.

HOWTO make edible googly eyes -- and an edible Flying Spaghetti Monster!

I thought it was a lot more exciting before I learned it was not pasta or real meatballs. This is an imitation FSM made with marshmallows, chow mein noodles, and cocoa puffs! We must eat these delicious snacks before the FSM can look down to see so many sweet false idols.
Know Thyself: Myware vs. Spyware
January 9, 2008 5:02pm
And for the DC Metro -- when you use the card in the subway, you need it to leave as well as to enter the system; they could in theory be already tracking users. Oh noes!
Know Thyself: Myware vs. Spyware
January 9, 2008 5:00pm
The Washington State Ferries system tracks where and when every ticket was used, so if they connected monthly passes to actual users in some way (say by saving someone's credit card info with the ticket ID, which I'm sure they already do), then WA has a pretty good picture of where and when certain regulars commute. It wouldn't be too difficult to install the same system in other forms of public transportation.
Coin jar calculator
December 31, 2007 7:01pm
I guess I am the only person so far who saves coins and then builds towers out of them. It's fun, and if you do it right you can count the coinage really quick at the end. For example, a ten pillar tower with ten coin pillars and five-high pillar tops would be two hundred coins per level. Have four complete layers of pennies and three extra pillars? $8.30.

HOWTO defeat the shoe-scanner at Heathrow
December 14, 2007 6:21pm
Won't work in the US. The shoes go through the same x-ray machine as carry-on bags, and security has no compunction about telling you to remove the shoes from the bag and send both through the machine again. That's what happened to me when I bought a pair of shoes on my last trip.

Video of ultra creepy animated dentist training robot
November 28, 2007 3:30pm
#3: Actually, the first and third times the robot patient reacts to the dental tech, the tech asks, "Daijobu desu ka? (Are you okay?)" and the robot patient responds, "Hai. (Yes.)" The second time, I couldn't understand the question, but the robot patient responds, "Chotto itai desu. (It hurts a little.)" and the dental tech apologizes ("Sumimasen.").
