I remember my old school chum, Gerry, had at one time, thru delicate use of razor blade and Elmers, rigged a pencil so that a sliver of wood could be coaxed loose from its side and unroll a scroll of illicit info. Then, the eraser ferrule could be spun to wind the scroll back inside. That level of creativity and craftsmanship has proven far more inspiring and useful for me in my day-to-day life than any quadratic function ever has.

20th century ruins are so evocative, they tug so many different heartstrings -- about adventure, failure, abandonment, possibility, transience...
Adding to the cinematic references: in The King is Alive, a 'dogme' film from 2000, a bus breaks down in Kolmanskop, and the stranded tourists occupy themselves with a production of King Lear.

Y'know, I'm as dazzled as the next guy by advances in aircraft and war machinery, but I gotta say -- the Thunder Chicken falls well shy of the lofty warmth and fuzziness marks Unicorn Chasers past have established. WINful, yes, I guess. Unicorn Chaser? I think the BBtv editor is expanding the definition.
