Who is actually this paranoid?

Cannabis growers are. They often exchange pictures and information over the net in order to better their product or organize transactions.

Again, who will guard the guards?

Don't skateboard! Why go outside? Stay inside and play videogames! Please stay in front of the telescreen!

Pirate Party leader talks strategy and tactics

January 14, 2008 11:58am

They made a stupid choice to name themselves the PIRATE party. Very strategic connotations. Then, they play dumb when people assume they're pushing a pro-piracy campaign. LOL

Their support of The Pirate Bay is a f*cking joke. I'm pro copyright-reform but distributing stolen copies of movies or music, whether using the computer or not, should be illegal. Anybody who's familiar with the Pirate Bay knows that they are making money from participating in & fostering the distribution of illegal content.

Further complicating the issue is the fact that the Pirate Party doesn't have a straightforward platform posted on their site (at least in English, and I searched google and couldn't find a translation). They talk so much about reforming copyright, but I have a lot of trouble finding specifics on their ideal policy. Is it Creative Commons that they want to implement? If so, most of the filesharing on the Pirate Bay and the like is STILL illegal.

The real problem is that the free market doesn't provide the means to meet the demand for art and culture. The issue nobody wants to talk about is that many people can't afford the music and movies they want, but still feel entitled to experience and participate in society's art & culture. The

TV-Be-Gone mischief at CES

January 11, 2008 10:30am

What assholes. What a spoiled sense of entitlement.

If you don't like the TV in a restaurant, simply tell them to turn it off, or don't eat there and support those types of restaurants.

It's childish to go around and exert your angst by forcing it on other people.

This is lame for Boing Boing. These devices have been around for 10+ years...

CIA coverup, take action

@ Kevitivity :

If water boarding isn't torture, I'm sure you'd be willing to demonstrate to us that it is not.

Would you be willing to be water boarded, and then say that it isn't torture? Everyone I know who's actually been water boarded definitely considers it torture.

What is your definition of torture Kevitivity? What does it include?

Post is inaccurate. Tryptamines are not hallucinogenic. Tryptamines are a class of chemical structures that include many hallucinogens, but also hormones such as Melatonin.

War on the Unexpected -- Schneier's dynamite essay on the War on Terror

Preaching to the converted. Where is all the fear-mongering coming from? I sure as hell don't spend my day worrying about all this stuff. Why?

Post-9/11 alarmism = Network TV

TV has never been more powerful. I don't watch it. I don't give the police state a soapbox to worship. People need to start recognizing that post-9/11 alarmist social attitude has more to do with propaganda than 9/11 actually scaring everybody. The majority of people refuse to take Propaganda seriously.

Why Comcast's BitTorrent-fux0r is bad for quality of service

October 22, 2007 1:43pm

Has anybody pointed out that this is actually illegal. Comcast has been engaged in a campaign of FALSE advertising. Actually, I just saw a billboard the other day on the way back from Oakland advertising "unlimited" bandwidth and "fastest speed" available.

Are there any class-action lawsuits regarding false advertising? It is illegal to promise a certain service, then provide a different one.

Interview with king of the pot farmers, Ed Rosenthal

The Medical Marijuana struggle is a perfect example of why the Executive was never meant to be this strong. What does it say about a democratic secular society when the opinions & recommendations of licensed medical doctors (scientists, really) are suppressed, and their decisions controlled by those who never went to medical school.

How can one even be optimistic about that kind of situation?
