I see what you did there...
Interesting items found by airplane restorers

@#8 Takuan - I'd never seen that before - very cool. It would be funny to do with kanji - making pictures out of ideo(picture)grams!

Another good aircraft restoration find here. Found during work on an Aichi Seiran - a small float plane based on (in?) Japanese submarine aircraft carriers. This scratch engraving is my favorite.
Conserving the world's weirdest amphibians
January 23, 2008 1:31pm
@7 Giovanni - it may not be all one thing. Some scientists posit a link between number of deaths due to chytrid and climate change: Climate Change and Frog Deaths.
For anyone who is interested, a conservation oriented get-together will be happening in June in central Massachusetts (US) - North American Amphibian Conf. (warning - sound, until you turn it off).

Vibrating Bluetooth bracelet helps you get the phone

if it could only be done the other way around and have a "hot/cold" mode to help you find your phone after you've set it down the night before. The closer you get, the harder or more frequent the buzz pulses get until you find your phone.
Nice! Also - add a caller ID display so you can determine whether you even care about digging the phone out.
White Mischief, London's steampunk variety night

White Mischief - fantastic title - one of my fave semi-obscure movies. Hedwig Kiesler and I board the Short flying boat for the flight to Nairobi and a visit w/ the Happy Valley set - at least, in my dreams.
New book features US Military emblems, shows the Pentagon is full of D&D geeks and X-Files fans

Interesting. Real or art project? (see: http://www.cabinetmagazine.org/shop/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=134) In the final analysis, who cares? A quibble - pullus should instead be pork (long pork, anyone?) - in Latin of course.
Cereal Killers -- forthcoming book of spooky funny cereal box art

TNH - the mural was just north of Williamsburg - Wythe and somewhere close to 14th. I mapped the big Flickrpic as best I recall. We were looking for CB's I Hate Perfume (http://www.cbihateperfume.com/), but he wasn't open - perfume that smells like burning leaves in the fall? Libraries? Yow!

Strange Maps have done a bunch of posts on enclaves - one of the most impressive is Cooch Behar (not to be confused w/ Robt. Williams' Cooch Cooty) featuring a counter-counter-enclave.
