Well done! *clap clap* for Kempton Lam who organized it, and Neddy Seagoon for standing face to face, and talking coherently about it with the Minister. Great news, and again, very well done. You've got this Canadian feeling proud and saying "way to go for speaking up about this issue, and doing it politely and firmly". That's the way to get the point across, isn't it?
I brought up the issue at church yesterday actually with someone. They had no idea we were about to get this style of law. So, yes, I explained that a bit of annoying copy protection on a CD, or DVD, doesn't really stop the big-money-makers. All it does is make it annoying and frustrating for the end-user, him, you and I! As well, the fact that the song-writers, in general are totally against the DMCA style of law. They want FAIR copyright laws, as well as us.

I'm Deb Johnson that's been posting on Michael Geist's blog. I've gone through the archives of his blog and come up with these 4 blog posts of his that will help explain how we know what is contained within the forthcoming bill.

The bill has not been made public yet Ivar. What we are getting is information from the source so far. That is all we have. Better to be informed without knowing the exact wording, than be ignorant and hit with the facts after the bill is tabled, correct? At least this way we have been forewarned. Believe me, when the information IS public, we will let you know where to see it. :)
Deirde McMurdy speaks about it here http://finance.sympatico.msn.ca/investing/deirdremcmurdy/article.aspx?cp-documentid=5791243
Where she got her info, I can only guess but I'd guess it was a valid source.
Also, this story by Deirde McMurdy in the Ottawa Citizen http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/story.html?id=6fe36f14-67da-45f9-9dc2-11cf06f62c4a
Hope this helps. :)

*sigh* so many tears at reading that beautiful love letter. So many tears to see that video and hear that song. So many tears to think this beautiful man was killed by violence. We owe it to him to "give REAL PEACE a chance". Please, post this link on every blog you can. It is only by spreading his word that we will sell "the product" that he wanted to sell: PEACE
Peace to all out there and ((((Hugs))))) to all as well.

Okay, I'm trying my best, as a slightly literate computerphile to express why the Canadian DMCA is "BAD"....
Found this link to a FAQ about why the DMCA in the U.S. is bad. http://www.anti-dmca.org/faq_local.html
Anyone else got anything better? I want to have facts to show people who ask "why should I care about this? What's in it for me?" questions on the Facebook group. So far, I've put this down.

Anything else I should be putting in there?

Yes, good point Russell. I've sent an email to my parents MP, on their behalf (and with their permission), and given their address, and postal code. After emailing them, simply print out the letter, stuff in envelope and mail to their House of Commons office. It is FREE POSTAGE (no stamp is required!) and please, needs to be done.

This is WONDERFUL news to hear that we are hitting them hard with our views of displeasure on this bill. Yes, it IS a stupid one. YES we have to speak out!! Yes, I will be calling Minister Prentice's office to express my views. Thank you Cory for helping spread the word. We need to keep Canada strong and free of unfair copyright laws that do no good.

Oh yeah, it's a great, little show! Loved listening to that clip of the NDP fellow, with his GREAT questions towards the Minister. Very well done.
I am proud of Canada, and Canadians for standing up, as much as we have! Let's keep fighting this STUPID legislation and yes, get FAIR copyright! Not roll over and play dead, like the Australians did when the Howard government up and passed a really stupid, restrictive copyright law a couple of years ago.
