How to deal with wall-mounted TV cables as a renter

Joel Johnson interviews Syd Mead: part 2.

"Convoluted compound mirror" -- yes. :D
Great interview! Are you no longer crediting the music you used? I liked the tracks in this episode.
What to do with an adopted, button-cute indigo iMac G3?
July 10, 2008 8:59am
The troubling thing for me is the power usage. Can one do anything to reduce the iMac's electricity while still having it as a useful media server? Would a small embedded server box (or a NAS) function just as well while using a fraction of the energy?
I have a G4 tower that I do almost nothing with besides play music (my MBP is my true work/play machine). How many kW/h is it using? I don't know -- I don't have a Kill A Watt.
Hand drawn tourist map of New Jersey's prisons, 1955
June 21, 2008 8:18am
It seems like the map was a promotional item for the American Prison Association's conference in Atlantic City in October, c. 1955. I like that the big arrow pointing towards the conference makes it seem that it will take place on a small sailboat. :D

The cameras of the Lumiere brothers were also projectors. They designed them so that their itinerant cameramen/projectionists could shoot a movie of the townspeople during the day then project it for them that night. The novelty factor of seeing yourself on film was huge.
Digital Buddhist Jukebox Plays Tibetan Chants

@Pekar:
I did a show with an Indian-classically trained singer, Samita Sinha, a few months ago. She had one of those tabla boxes backstage to warm up with. They're very cool.

Cool! The ambient/experimental group FM3 was inspired by these boxes to make their own version, the Buddha Machine, which was probably mentioned on BoingBoing when it came out. I have one -- they're quite nice. I like leaving it in different parts of the room on low volume.
Blip Festival '07 Starts Tomorrow
November 28, 2007 9:11am
Hey Joel, folks who'd like to enable greater blipping can do so by loaning the festival their TVs:
Blip Festival 2007 (www.blipfestival.org) is starting in a few days and there is hope of setting up a wall of TVs to be used along with other means of projection. If anyone has a TV that they would be willing to loan during the event or knows someone that has one to loan, we would be very happy to borrow it.
Arrangement is being made to have a van available to pick up and drop off.For more info or to loan one - please contact Jeff Donaldson (noteNdo) at nosdlanod--AT--gmail-dot-com

Most hardware stores carry long plastic runners that use light adhesive to stick to the wall and can hold a few cables. They might be a little too hotel/institutional for some tastes but they definitely do the job without leaving marks.
