#17 - A concern troll FYI would have been something like "You might want to stop selling this product because people will stop coming to your site due to the image being sexist." See how the concern is tossed in there? Not my bag.

This is a feminist critique, not "political correctness."

#20 - Um ok, don't see how that correction make the image less sexist.

#12 - Um, this female figure's cleavage *was* invented for the gaze of men, as you handily rely upon in point 1. It's not a lot of assumptions, it's analysis. I've shown my work, if you disagree with it pointing out where would be appreciated.

As for point 2, if it were a photo of a woman and not an illustration she'd still be posing for men. As for the women you know, is that an outfit they'd wear while using a jackhammer? I'll wait while you ask.

#3 - "1. attitudes or behavior based on traditional stereotypes of sexual roles." Like a female figure posing for the gaze of men doesn't fall under that category.

#7 - Don't see a lot of cleavage in "we can do it." Also, they're nothing subtle about the way the woman is dressed unless you spend a lot of time in strip clubs or Hooters. She's not dressed in working clothes because she's working, she's modeling them as she poses.

Super-premium theater chain in the US to sell $35 movie tickets

March 28, 2008 11:50am

Livingroom theaters in Portland, Oregon has been doing this for a while now - tickets are 9 bucks, the food is good but spendy, and they serve (so no kids). They play some new indie-ish flicks and older movies too - recently I've seen A Clockwork Orange, Casablanca, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

So, 35 bucks plus food. . . it's clearly a sustainable business model for the places all the rest of the us go for the same experience to not charge an arm and a leg for the tickets when you're probably buying dinner at their restaurant. In space they've already rented. And with no kids to mess up the nice furniture.

No friends yet.
