Supremely awful Hungarian anti-war white rap video

@12 - I agree with you expect for the past about listening to this again. For me, it is enough that it exists.

I respect the sentiment and courage(or self-delusion) needed to record this.

It seems there are surprisingly few recent songs with similar sentiments popular in north america. None as blatantly honest.

Songs making fun of land grab case in Boulder, Colorado

January 9, 2008 7:40pm

Oh how soon we forget.

This story has been around rather recently, and it's extremely unclear whether the requirements for adverse possession were fulfilled, let alone proven.

Not my actual comment:

@anyone new to this topic: reading the old comments thread would clear a lot up for everyone. (http://www.boingboing.net/2007/11/21/land-grab-case-in-bo.html) A bit of homework will help us all have a good discussion.

@1 Adverse possession is a reasonable law, but in this case it seems grossly misused.

@2 if the usage wasn't exclusive, the law doesn't apply. So a place where many children played could not be adversely posessed.

@3 Check the entry on wikipedia. It does make sense, sort of. Usually the possession has to have following elements for something like 20 years:

physical: open and notorious (visible); actual; exclusive;
mental: hostile; (ie, the not-paying-taxes part)
temporal: continuous (uninterrupted).

Suburban family discovers hidden room filled with toxic mold and a taunting note

January 6, 2008 10:21pm

I haven't seen this anywhere else in the comments, but here's the resolution(ish) from http://www.wyff4.com/news/14488356/detail.html:

Fannie Mae, the Federal National Mortgage Association, finally agreed to buy back the Brown's home for the original selling price of $75,000. As a result, Fannie Mae will be dropped from the Brown's lawsuit.

But their litigation continues against Century 21 Flynn & Youngblood and Realtor Sue Bakx. Again, neither party would comment for this story.

High heels: tottery killers (infographic)

Thanks Roger #25, that's an awesome post. This image seemed to me like it was fishing (ie, the pretty 'pressure on forefoot graph' - What's the point?).

Not that heels are comfortable or easy to walk in. Half of life is murdering yourself to make you more appealing to the other sex.

Maybe I'm getting old. I used to trust those in the medical profession and laugh at old coots who wouldn't seek attention. Now, more and more I'm find that they are out of touch with their own field. How can we trust these people when they're so often wrong?

Judge jailed entire courtroom over ringing mobile phone

I've had someone's phone go off during a final exam. Repeatedly.
So I sympathize with him.

Sadly, there isn't a good way to handle this is there? Keep an EMP generator around to nuke anyone's phone that isn't turned off?

#44 is right -
Their use wasn't exclusive or uninterrupted, so failing 2/3 requirements for adverse possession.

Video of man tasered to death

November 15, 2007 3:19pm

Hi All,

I want to set up a website for this to accept donations for his mother/charity and provide a forum.

I'm from Vancouver. As a Canadian I know many people are shocked by this. We like to see ourselves as a welcoming nation and this deeply disturbs me.
Fault in his death aside, this is a tragedy. Lets do something to make sure people learn that tazers are deadly weapons, to give Dziekanski's death some meaning, and his mother some solace.

I've never done anything like this before.
If you can help out in any aspect of this please email me at MemoryOfDziekanski@gmail.com. (I'm not sure what the best host would be, how to set up a charitable fund - paypal(?))

Dziekanski.com is already taken; I don't know if someone is already on this.

Thank you.
