I am not sure they are evil. I do business with them and I think that they are just so big that they are in fact multiple companies. One group doesnt know what the other is doing. I think that the people who work for MSFT are just as non-evil as any other company (IBM, Novell, Sun, Adobe, Apple, etc). It is just cool to hate them.

I have been following this for about a year and it seems to me that it is primarily for emergency services. There are many places in both the private and govt sectors that could use better trained personal to handle disasters like: hurricanes, earthquakes, twisters, etc.
I know here in California, there are many companies who have emergency plans and incident commanders to help protect their employees during quakes and other natural and human caused disasters.
I do think that the title "homeland security" is a bit unfortunate though. I think that emergency planning or something like that would be much more appropriate and fit better.
HOWTO keep your laptop from being searched at the border (it's hard)
May 1, 2008 3:25pm
This isnt a great solution but whenever I come back into the country, I just logout of my main account and login to a limited access account with it's own version of outlook and browsing history. I then hibernate the laptop. If someone wants to see what is on my laptop, I just wake it up and go in as that limited user.
If they take the machine and search harder, they can get past that but at least at first glance, my login has approved web history and a access to a hotmail account that I only use for things other than work.

Can anyone point to any legal documentation (federal or state -- I am in California) that can back the 4th ammendment claim up? Something that could be printed and carried around.
I hear alot of opinion but havent really seen anything backed up from any court cases, laws, etc.

I see that my comments were edited. I guess free speech must be approved by the gatekeepers. Bravo guys. This is a dissapointment. Cory, I thought you were all about the freedom of speech, content, and hell, maybe even beer.

from antinous:
The things is that the children who go to vocational schools are usually the ones who failed academic subjects and commonly had disciplinary problems
This is really a failing of our school system and leave no child behind. We have a school system which focuses on college bound kids. the ones who are "problemed" goto vocational. Most kids get left between the cracks (neither college bound or stuggling in college, and have no vocational skills)
